Guest guest
http://www.healingpeople.com/ht/EN/articles/2000/2/24/467.tmpl Here is some Western information on dandelion. As you read this, keep in mind the TCM properties of Herba Taraxaci Mongolici cum Radice (herb and rootlets (radice) - the entire plant) and how this could relate to hepatitis. Dandelion's thermal energy is Cold, its taste is bitter and sweet, and it specifically targets the Liver and Stomach. It's classified as an herb that clears Heat and Relieves Toxicity. " Clears heat and resolves dampness: for damp-heat jaundice and painful urinary dysfunction. " (Chinese Herbal Medicine Materia Medica Revised Ed., Dan Bensky and Andrew Gamble, p. 89.) Dandelion can be used as either medicine or food. The older plants are used for medicinal purposes. The leaves of the very young plant - which are not as bitter as the leaves of older plants - are packed with more beta-carotene than carrots (more than 5 times). It's also packed with mineral salts and can have applications in purifying the blood. (See A Handbook of Native American Herbs by Alma R. Hutchens, pp. 80-82.)
