Guest guest
Here is the article on the use of moxabustion at Bai Hui (GV 20) and Stomach 36. Maciocia says moxa at GV 20 is contraindicated in cases of high blood pressure. Chen Quan says he has used moxa on GV 20 and St 36 to treat high blood pressure succesfully. Unfortunately, this article does not go into TCM syndromes. Hypertension is one of those conditions which can have different TCM Roots. For example there is Yang Deficiency hypertension, hypertension associated with certain Liver imbalances, etc. The article doesn't give any information on TCM syndromes which were present in these individuals. The article says that Bai Hui will be painful in a person who has hypertension. Hopefully this long link will work. http://www.medicinechinese.com/A55800/libr.nsf/5cf026093cd2b2f085256a1c00759b10/\ 88dbcf71a5dff47385256a1f0077f4c0!OpenDocument Victoria _______________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp

Du 20 has the ability to yank qi upward toward the top of the head and so it is used for bringing things up. However, because at the top, there is no where to go but down, it can also be used to induce the falling action of qi if it is collecting in the head ala high blood pressure. That's the law of yin and yang in action that says " ultimate yang becomes yin " . At the top of the head, the qi that has risen, but begin to fall. -- Al Stone L.Ac. <AlStone http://www.BeyondWellBeing.com Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional.
