Guest guest
what does this mean if this is listed after someone's name?? " M.B., DiplAc NCCA, received his Bachelor of Medicine from the Guangzhou University " as well, in IL, does anyone know if they use LAc. to denote that you are an acupuncturist, or do they just use what is listed above (DiplAc NCCA). also, does anyone know if Guangzhou University has any merit? Just trying to understand what would qualify someone to be teaching in a OMED school... Finally, It would be super if anyone had any opinions about Midwestern college of Oriental Medicine (Chicago campus) and their current operation. thanks a lot! Guest guest
I hope that the link (www.tcmworks.com/practitioners.html) partially answers your question. The name Guangzhou University does not mean anything. But there is TCM higher education institute call Guangzhou University of TCM located in the City of Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, PRC.. - " Paul Rieselman " <chirokid <SymphonicHealth >; <Chinese Traditional Medicine >; <paracelsus Sunday, July 15, 2001 11:47 AM [Chinese Traditional Medicine] Need some ACUP help! > what does this mean if this is listed after someone's name?? > > " M.B., DiplAc NCCA, received his Bachelor of Medicine from the Guangzhou > University " > > as well, in IL, does anyone know if they use LAc. to denote that you are an > acupuncturist, or do they just use what is listed above (DiplAc NCCA). > > also, does anyone know if Guangzhou University has any merit? > > Just trying to understand what would qualify someone to be teaching in a > OMED school... > > Finally, It would be super if anyone had any opinions about Midwestern > college of Oriental Medicine (Chicago campus) and their current operation. > > thanks a lot! > > Paul. > www.geocities.com/rainforest/andes/1225 > > > > Post message: Chinese Traditional Medicine > Subscribe: Chinese Traditional Medicine- > Un: Chinese Traditional Medicine- > List owner: Chinese Traditional Medicine-owner > > Shortcut URL to this page: > /community/Chinese Traditional Medicine > >
Guest guest
DiplAc NCCA is a national certification. Most states recognize it as the authority for licensure since states don't know a better way to go about it. DiplAc=Diplomat of Acupuncture which is designated by the NCCAOM. They test the acupuncturist for knowledge, point location, and clean needle if the acupuncturist passes they are certified. You must have so many credit hours within the certification time period to renew the certification. I think the cert is good for 4 years now. The NCCAOM has a website with a search database for current certs. Here in Indiana you must have this designation to get a license. A licensed acupuncturist is different from a DiplAc but may also be a DiplAc. Some states do not recognize the NCCAOM and do their own testing. I know California is that way and I believe Maryland is as well. As for the Midwest School in Chicago I have a number of friends who went there and most would recommend Pacific over Midwest. Pacific is now in Chicago also. Hope this helps. Shane
Guest guest
How long ago did they graduate from midwestern? Pacific in chicago is not doing so hot, and it is not fitting my schedule to go there. I dont think it will for another few years---and i've been waiting two years already! i think they have a fall incomming class of less than 20 at this point. they offer minimal to no biomedical sciences, and they dont even offer a full courseload for semester one. i think its midwestern or nothing at this point...i was hoping it would be a -you get out of it what you put into it-- type of thing. they do have a MSOM prg with a BS in nutrition now... i dont know if it was the same when your friends went there or not... i only asked, because some of the instructors have MB...so i was wondering if that is a good qualification.. thanks for all the help though! Either is fine, according to: http://Acupuncture.com/StateLaws/StateLaws.htm#14 > also, does anyone know if Guangzhou University has any merit? I'm sure it does, but that doesn't mean that the person received any real training there. Sometimes Chinese schools are visited so that people can come back and claim Chinese training. Others are trained there but are lousy students. Its all up to the individual, not the school. > Just trying to understand what would qualify someone to be teaching in a > OMED school... I've had terrible teachers and gifted individuals, both in school. I don't know if this is an important credential or not. > Finally, It would be super if anyone had any opinions about Midwestern > college of Oriental Medicine (Chicago campus) and their current operation. They are fully accredited. That is a nice start, but no where to end...
