Guest guest
The concept of elixirs or elixir-like substances which will cure a variety of problems is looked at with suspicion in the West in part because of outlandish cure-all claims in the past, and in part because of the way scientific research is done (testing one variable at a time). But the truth is that one substance or one type of treatment often can clear up or improve a variety of problems if the treatment is one that an individual needs. The best examples in Western medicine comes in the field of vitamin and mineral supplementation for those with certain vitamin or mineral deficiences. An example is the effect that magnesium injections can have on some people with CFIDS. Mg plays a number of key roles in the body, and Mg deficiency has been linked to a number of medical problems. So it's not surprising when PWCs on Mg shots report a lessening of pain (believed to be due to Mg's role as a GABA-enhancer), a lessening of insomnia (ditto), a loss of the feeling that weights are attached to the arms and legs, an increase in energy, improvement in immune response (one of the roles of Mg), a lessening of breathing problems (Mg acts as a bronco-dilator), and other improvements. Mg is not a cure for CFIDS, but it can lessen and in some cases eliminate many of the problems experienced by many PWCs. (Not all PWCs). When TCM Roots are identified in individuals and properly addressed, it's common to see several symptoms improve or even disappear. For example, what do a feeling of agitation and possible fatigue, night sweats, low grade fever or a feeling of heat in the afternoon, a dry throat at night, emaciation, dry cough or cough with a little sticky sputum, hoarse voice, tinnitus, poor memory, deafness, excessive thirst, constipation, feeling too hot and having problems cooling down dull occipital or vertical headache, insomnia, dream-disturbed sleep, a malar (blotchy) flush of the face, numbness of limbs, heat in in the palms of the hand and soles of the feet, and angry outbursts have in common? These are all possible symptoms/ manifestations of Yin Deficiency depending on which Organs are affected. Supplement Yin with Yin foods or Yin tonic herbs, and many of these symptoms will disappear or at least lessen. (Some of these symptoms could be coming from another Root besides Yin Deficiency.)
