While not TCM, the following is a set of prescriptions and phytotherapy formulations that have proven to be very effective for warts. They are part of a book I and a colleague are doing on dermatology problems.

Forgive any misspellings, etc- the book is still in rough stage. Need another month. It'll be available as an ebook. If anyone is interested, send me an email and let me know.

MEDICAL TREATMENT

Calcium glycerol phosphates 0.5g (60 tabs)

Take one table t.i.d. with food over 20 days. Repeat another 20 day course of treatment to prevent relapse.

Acidi ascorbinici 0.1g(60 tabs)

Take one table t.i.d. with food over 20 days. Repeat another 20 day course of treatment to prevent relapse.

Plantar warts should be treated only when they become large and painful. They are treated as follows:

Acidi salicylici (40%) paste.

Apply to lesion with a boundary band-aid (to prevent burning of surrounding skin). Replace daily over five days or until wart has disappeared. Note that each day after removal of the band-aid, some organic material will be left behind that must be cleaned away before a new application, OR

Salicylic acid 6g Lead 4g

Benzocaine 3.5g

White sugar 5g

Grind everything into a fine powder. Make into ointment by adding 70% alcohol to desired consistency.

Genital warts can be treated by cryosurgery (liquid nitrogen), Co2 laser removal, which have proved to be successful.

Otherwise, apply podophyline (25%) on the affected areas once daily until they disappear.

PHYTOTHERAPY

Herba Serpylli 25g

Gemma Betulla 15g

Herba Melissa 20g

Herba Absintheii 10g

Frucutus Juniperi 30g

Add 2 tblspn. to 200ml boiling water. Let stand 1 hour. Strain and drink 50ml q.i.d. with food.

Volatile Oil of Thuja Occidentalis 25ml

Volatile Oil of Hyssopus officianalis 25ml

Mix together and apply to warts themselves b.i.d.

Extract eluthorococci 50ml

30 drops bid for a period of 30 days.

FOLK MEDICINE

Succus Chelidonium majus

Break stem of the fresh herb and apply the yellowish, milky fluid directly onto the wart tid until they disappear.

To 1 part grated garlic add 1 part grated apple and make a compress from the pulp. Apply to the wart and let stay overnight.

Apply Oleum linii (linen) directly to warts bid. Esp. effective for plantar warts.

Take 3 tblspns. dried Artemisia Absintheum and add to 200ml boiling water. Let stand two hours. Apply as a compress to affected areas for 15 minutes bid. Especially effective for flat warts in children.

Apply ice as long as can be tolerated to the wart bid. In five or six days, the warts will fall off.
