This is an interesting article that touches on the use of herbs in treating

cancer.

The first use is to restore balance to the body, to correct the underlying

patterns of imbalance that can manifest as cancer. It's not enough just to

" cure " the cancer via other means such as surgery, radiation, chemotherapy,

etc. If the body still is in imbalance the cancer can develop again. Or,

other problems still can develop.

The article also lists 3 uses of herbs as complimentary treatment to

conventional therapies: 1). " to offset the damaging side-effects of

radiation and chemotherapy. " (Other substances besides herbs may also do

this, for example vitamins A & C. Though there is some controversy

concerning the use of A & C. Some studies report the precusor form of

vitamin A (beta carotene) causing some tumors to grow.)

2). To improve immune system functioning. (Chemo and radiation frequently

overwhelms the immune system.)

3). " To aid in tumor reduction itself, potentially shortening the length of

time the patient needs to receive radiation and/or chemotherapy. "

The list given in the article is only a partial list of herbs with tumor

reducing properties. Five are TCM herbs; 5 are Western herbs.

The article also makes plain that different herbs work on different forms of

cancer. This is just an introductory article, and interested readers will

have to do more research on their own.
