Guest guest
Another reason to learn all one can about alternative medicine and helping oneself. BTW, AZ is one of the states which has a very high percentage of the population covered by HMOs and corporate medicine. Problems caused by HMOs are surfacing first in the states with these high percentages. It's long been known in this state that there are nursing shortages due to corporate hospitals short-staffing and relying on temp nurses which are cheaper. Public hospitals are forced to follow in order to stay operational. And problems have surfaced because full-time nurses are required to work dangerous amounts of overtime in order to take up the slack. Over-worked and tired workers tend to make more mistakes than those who are rested and working more reasonable hours. It's no surprise that more and more nurses are getting out of the field and less and less people are choosing to become nurses. What this article doesn't mention is that good doctors have left this state and gone to states where less of the population are covered by HMOs. I had a very good doctor who got fed-up with the HMO situation in this state and left because of it. Other good doctors also have left the state because they're tired of HMOs dictating medical decisions based on the bottom line instead of what's best for the patient. http://www.azstarnet.com/public/dnews/000923NOBEDS.html Victoria _______________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.
