Guest guest
>http://www.rmhiherbal.org/review/2000-3.html This is the link to the article in the RMHI Herbalist Review where Roger Wicke explains how to evaluate non-TCM herbs in a TCM context. He uses Oregon Grape Root, Mahonia repens, as an example. BTW, some botanists call it Berberis repens. It's similar to barberry, Berberis fremontii, B. fendlerii. Barberry recently has been discussed on wiseweeds. It seems that conventional medicine has discovered that prescription antibiotics may work better when combined with barberry extract. It's the berberine in it that may be responsible. This may have applications against antibiotic-resistent bacteria. The Wicke article reports that Oregon Grape Root is considered better for liver problems than barberry.
