Guest guest
Dear Acupuncturists, I ordered some needles from Lhasa, and they arrived today. My wife graciously allowed me to practice on her. The 32 and 36 gauge needles came with insertion tubes. A small pice of plastic held the needle in place in the tube, and had to be removed before I could begin to insert the needle (Note: Already I see that having to remove this small piece of plastic each time is going to be bothersome!). I put the insertion tube against my wife's leg, and then quickly flicked the protruding end of the acupuncture needle with the fingernail of my 2nd finger. After removing the tube, the needle stayed in place, but drooped to the side (almost laying against and parallel to her skin). I then grasped the needle by its handle and tried to twist it into her skin a little deeper...but the needle bent. So I then got another needle and inserted it the same as above. Except this time I grabbed the needle by its body and pushed it in deeper, and it held in place well and stuck up at a 90 degree angle. Question: Should I be able to insert these needles deeper by using the needle's top part only? Or is grasping the body of the needle often required? Doing the latter seems to violate sanitary conditions. Thanks. Sam PS. I inserted the needle at a site chosen purely at random (about 4 inches inches below the knee, on the anterior-lateral side of her leg). My wife said she got a headache when I inserted the needle..and it went away when I removed the needle! ______________ YOU'RE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR THE INTERNET! Juno now offers FREE Internet Access!
