The 10 year old looks much like someone >with cerebral palsy would look. I'm not sure " universal points " is the best terminology that the acupuncturist could have used. From your description, many of these points sound like points that get used a lot because they have so many applications and they work so well. Most of the acupoints I have gone into detail on in posts have been some of the ones that get used the most. I guess one could call these " universal points " though I don't like that terminology. They do get used a lot for a lot of different things and are effective for a lot of different things, but they're not one size fits all points that work on everything. >3) Near/on the web space between the thumb and the second fingers. This sounds like Large Intestine 4. This was either the first point I went into detail on or one of the first because 1). it's fairly easy for most people to find, 2). it gets used for a lot of common complaints, and 3.) it can be very effective. I remember Shane joking about LI 4 getting used for everything when he first started posting. This often is one of the first acupoints that the general public learns. It can be used in acupressure to relieve constipation. This is one of those points that is contraindicated in pregnant women (unless they're in the delivery room and could use some help). However, it has a lot more uses than just constipation or helping a woman deliever. I'll be going into this point in more detail in a future post.
