Guest guest
Dear Group, Last Sunday I watched an acupuncturist needle a young boy who suffers from a traumatic brain injury. The 10 year old looks much like someone with cerebral palsy would look. The TCM doctors inserted needles at the following places: 1) Near the web space between the 1st and 2nd toes of each foot. 2) On the lower anterior legs, about 3 inches down from the knee. 3) Near/on the web space between the thumb and the second fingers. 4) One needle in each side of the neck, a little below the ear. 5) One needle on the top of the head. 6) 8 needles along the hair line, in a symmetric fashion. The TCM doctor said that some of those points were universal points that they used on EVERYONE...in order to increase their energy and sense of well being. Questions: 1) Which universal energy points were those? 2) I thought there was no such thing as universal points to be used on everyone...that TCM required a reasonably precise diagnosis before inserting needles. Am I wrong? Thanks. Sam ______________ YOU'RE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR THE INTERNET! Juno now offers FREE Internet Access! Try it today - there's no risk! Guest guest
Sam, Some points are universal where others are not. Each point is designed to do a specific thing and will work with most people. You do need to know which points to use for which illness. But if you throw in a few feel good points that is not a bad thing. I would suspect that one of the points was Bah Wai (?sp) GV20, which is right in the middle of the head, very spiritual point, good for balance but will also work on hemorrhoids. Actually I have found that few acupuncturists use all of the points most have their favorites just like MD's have their favorite drugs but you do need to use points which validate your diagnosis. I have also known and administered myself what some acupuncturists call a Chakra Treatment using points that correspond to the actual Chakras. This could be used to bring someone back into balance and make them feel good. It can also heal the Chakra area if it has been injured or has stopped rotating. Feeling good is a good thing and aids the body. Remember Mind, Body and Spirit. TCM is based in theory, intuition, and diagnosis of a specific condition. But the goal is to make the person feel better so they heal quicker. Feel good points help to accomplish that task. 1) Near the web space between the 1st and 2nd toes of each foot. (Liver Point 2 or 3) 2) On the lower anterior legs, about 3 inches down from the knee.(ST36 or SP9) 3) Near/on the web space between the thumb and the second fingers. (LI 4 used for anything that needs fixing) 4) One needle in each side of the neck, a little below the ear. (Sounds like aTB Point but there are several points in that general area) 5) One needle on the top of the head. (Probably GV20 there are 4 points around this point I vision them as North, South, East and West, I have had a lot of success with ground and balancing people with all 5 points at the same time) Shane
