Don't forget handheld massagers which can work wonders in some cases. Also

good for reaching points on your back you can't reach with your hands. (If

the points are sore, one can find them a lot of the time using a handheld

massager.)

Massaging the general area of a point can be all that is needed in some

cases. When you work the Sea of Vitality (Bladder 23 and 47), the

instructions I've seen is not to hold the points but to make a fist with

both hands, and rub the fists briskly up and down to create heat. Or, use a

handheld massager. Or, in the case of Cold people and conditions, put a

heating pad over the points.

In the latest Lhasa catalog, I see something called a " Pointer Plus " for

$72. It uses a 9V battery, and has a pulsed frequency of 10 Hz, 0-25V,

0-50 miliamps, pulse width 220 microseconds.

Another unit is called a " Fata Point Locator/Stim " . It costs $165, uses a

9V battery, 0-15V, 0-30 milliamps, pulse width 120 microseconds (half of

the first unit).

Then there's a " Piezo Ear Pen " for $29, for use on the more sensitive ear

or face.

How long do you zap folks with these things? Acupuncture needles often

remain in place for 15 to 30 minutes. I'm sure a 9V battery won't allow

that kind of long usage.

This is the one that I have and when I used it I believe I did each point

about 5-10 seconds. Again you will know watch the face of the person and

feel the area. Especially in ashi type situations you will feel the muscle

relax or change to the touch.
