Bleeding; nausea

Dear Victoria, Shane, et al:

Last week I spent another afternoon with an acupuncturist. He told me

about a patient with hypertension...that was not responding to the usual

acupuncture points he uses for that disorder. He took a small lancet and

made several small cuts on her scalp --- which released a small amount of

blood at each cut site. Immediately, the woman felt better and her blood

pressure went down to normal. So far, it has stayed normal. I am amazed.

A few nights ago my 2 year old had nausea and vomiting. Rather than use a

phenergan suppository...my wife asked me where the

acupuncture/acupressure points were to control nausea. I couldn't

remember.....sigh...

Which brings up another " point " <g>:

I've lost the link to a website that had detailed drawings of the body,

with acupuncture sites listed on each body part. Might anyone know what

website that might be?

Thanks.

Sam

There are several. The one they sell those seasickness bands for is I

believe Pericardium 6 (Inner Gate). " In the middle of the inner side of the

forearm two and one-half finger widths above the wrist crease. " (p. 174)

(This is the palm side of the forearm.)

Pericardium 5 (Intermediary) is another. " Four Finger widths above the

center of the inner wrist crease, between the tendons. " (174) If you're

holding P6 and P5 on yourself with your small finger at the wrist crease,

your middle finger will be about on P6 (Inner Gate), and your index finger

will be about on P5 (Intermediary).

Note: If you're using acupressure on someone else, when directions are given

in finger widths, it means the width of the fingers of the person having the

treatment, not your fingers. An adult's fingers are much larger than a

child's, so you use the child's fingers to measure the distance.

Small Intestine 17 (Heavenly Appearance) " In the indendation between the

earlobe and the tip of the jawbone. " Using your hand on the same side as

you're treating, put the middle finger in back of your earlobe in the

indendation formed by where your jaw meets your neck. With the middle

finger directly under the earlobe, your index finger is going to be about on

top of SI 17. (This is clearer when you also have a picture and diagram to

look at with the verbal instructions.) Gach cautions that this point, SI 17

is very sensitive to finger pressure, and you should apply pressure slowly

and gently. This is not a point to press hard. This one is also good for

ear pain, facila paralysis or spasms, jaw pain, itching in the ears, and

swollen throat according to Gach.

Spleen 16 (Abdominal Sorrow) " below the edge of the rib cage (at the

junction of the ninth rib cartilage to the eighth rib) in line with the

earlobe " .

Bigger Rushing (Liver 3) and Three Mile Point (Stomach 36) were covered in a

previous post.

Severe Mouth (Stomach 45) " on the outside of the base of the nail of the

second toe. " Gach says to use your thumb and middle finger to squeeze both

sides of the base of your second toenail for 30 seconds.

Sam

There is a very good book out called " Smarter Medicine for Healthier

Children " . I think that is the name I have loaned mine out so I do not have

it in front of me. It is great for kids it gives all the conventional

treatments and then all the complementary treatments for each illness. It

also has diagrams with points to use acupressure for certain things. It

gives the herbal, the homeopathic remedy, flower essence remedy plus

conventional and acupressure. Very easy to follow and understand.

Acupuncture points: Liver 3 and Stomach 36

Homeopathy: Ipecac or Nux Vomica (just as quick as acupuncture) pellets that

dissolve under the tongue.

Reflexology: massage the bottom of the foot on the stomach area.

Essential Oils: Lemon and or Peppermint or just cut up a lemon and have

them smell it. I did this with my wife when she want pregnant and it works

wonders.

Hope this helps.

Glad to see that you are still in touch with the acupuncturist and are still

amazed because frankly it is really amazing. I still stand with my mouth

open sometimes in amazement of it all.

Hi Sam,

It used to be http://www.acupuncture.com, but now it's called

http://www.healingpeople.com. Either link will get you there.

I'd like to hear more from the acupuncturists on this list about the

bleeding that was done. This is pretty fascinating.
