If your local library doesn't have a copy of a book you want, it will request the book from the other libraries in the county system and then from libraries in other parts of the US. In some areas it's a completely free service, in others you have to pay the postage. When I requested the Foundations book, the local library finally located a copy from a medical school library in Colorado. The nearest copy of another book I wanted on herbalism came from a public library in Florida. It's a wonderful service. Especially when a book costs over a hundred dollars as Foundations did at the time. I'd hate to lay out that much money for a book that isn't very good. I ended up getting my own copy of Foundations because I was so impressed with it. The retail price on this book is $99. So while it is still an expensive book, I did get it for about $20 less than retail. The condition of the book is really excellent and the condition is always noted before you purchase so you know what you are getting. Check out http://www.abebooks.com/ There are several source over the internet for used books. I've had lots of luck using these services to replace books I bought in the 70s for instance, that have disappeared from my shelves.
