Guest guest
Yin Deficiency can result in a person being nervous and agitated. Another term for Yin Deficiency is Deficiency Heat or Empty Heat. This is Heat which is caused by the person lacking enough Yin energy. Excess Heat is caused by there being too much of something - an infection, a blockage, too many spicy foods, etc. In Excess Heat the entire face will be red. In Deficiency Heat, only the cheeks will be red or there will be red blotches all over the face (also called a malar flush in some books.) Night sweats are common in Yin Deficiency. The person feels too hot to him/herself and dislikes heat, especially in the afternoons. The palms, soles, and head may be hot. Pure Yin Deficiency results in the person often being thirsty and desiring cold drinks. The urine will be dark-colored and there is a tendency to constipation. Body movements tend to be rapid and weak. Speech tends to be quiet but rapid.. The person apperars outgoing and is talkative, but also has a passive appearance. The tongue tissue is red, perhaps with fissures. The top coat may be absent, or be very thin white to yellow. The absence of a coating may be due to Stomach Yin Deficiency. The pulse is weak or thready and rapid. Fatigue will be present - as it is in all Deficiency conditions - but it may be masked by the nervousness and agitation. In cases of Kidney Yin Deficiency, both the agitation and the fatigue may be apparent since the Kidney Yin is the foundation of Yin for the entire body. These are the symptoms for pure Yin Deficiency. It is not uncommon for both Yang and Yin Deficiency to exist at the same time, especially if the Kidneys are in imbalance. In this case the symptom picture will be mixed. Symptom patterns will be mixed in the case of Yang Deficiency and any kind of Heat (Excess or Deficiency) in the body.
