Guest guest
" Bulbus " (Blb) is one of those adjectives you see in pharmaceutical names. It's the bulb of the plant. Wicke classifies garlic bulb as a herb for Expelling Parasites. It's fairly well known that garlic has antibiotic and antifungal properties. It also kills pinworms, hookworms, and many types of protozoa. You can combine it with other herbs to kill other parasites. It's thermal quality is warm; its taste is spicy. It has a speicial affinity for the Spleen, Stomach, Lung, and Large Intestine meridians. It's contraindicated in Yin Deficiency with Heat. Don't apply tropically for more than a few days as it will cause skin irritation after prolonged external use. Prolonged internal use can create gastrointestinal mucosa. This one you want to be careful about preparing because heat will degrade its antiparasitic and antibiotic properties. Wicke recommends simmering it for about 1 minute in butter - just long enough to improve the taste. Garlic also helps some cases of high blood pressure and high cholesterol, but for now I want to concentrate on the antiparasite properties.
