Guest guest
Xylem in botany is heartwood. So aquilaria zylem is aquilaria wood, and santalum xylem is santalum wood (sandalwood). The pharmaceutical term for xylem or wood is Lignum. So the pharmaceutical names of these two herbs are Lignum Aquilariae (Chen Xiang - aloe wood) and Lignum Santali (Tan Xiang - sandalwood). Both these herbs are herbs for Regulating Qi. There are a number of herbs in the formula that Regulate Qi. When preparing teas, woods usually need to be cooked longer than roots or stems which usually need to be cooked longer than fruits which are cooked longer than flowers. So the lignums usually go into the pot first, and the other stuff is added later. Victoria --== Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ ==-- Share what you know. Learn what you don't.
