Has your dad had an iodine loading test to see how much he requires? I'm allergic to the CT scan dye also, and get horrible hives. Benadryl in advance does prevent the hives, but IMHO is not a good long-term solution.

All iodine is not the same. Your dad may not be allergic to Lugol's, which is very different than the dye used in scans. Can you test with a minute amount, slowly increasing, since it's transdermal? I'm NOT allergic to the Iodoral pills I'm taking, Shalom, Rhoda

Hi Rhoda. No, Dad has not had an iodine loading test. His doctors won't bother with it, as they don't believe that is any problem for him. But since I've found out the dye and Lugol's type iodine are different I will start giving him some. I have to start everything slowly with him, he's very reactive due to all his illnesses.

Samala,
