Guest guest
My dad is allergic to cat scan dye. He gets really bad hives and can't breath. They've mentioned that the dye is iodine. My question is--is this the same iodine that a person uses for helping the thyroid? I have been considering using external applications of 7% iodine on him to help with his thyroid--but if it is the same iodine as the cat scan dye then I would not want to put it on, naturally. Any thoughts or experience with this? Samala, Renee
Guest guest
Hi Renee, Check with his doctor to make sure. I am also allergic to cat scan dye and the last time it was used, long, long ago in the 1980's, I developed hives, my throat closed and I seriously could not breathe. They had to give me an antidote. I know there are many types of iodine, but I take Iodoral every day with no problem. Hugs, oleander soup , " Gaiacita " <gaiacita wrote: > > My dad is allergic to cat scan dye. Guest guest
Hi Renee, No this is not the same. You want to use Lugol's or the tablet form Iodoral. They are the best according to Dr. David Brownstein, the iodine pioneer. You can find out lots more, like the co-factors needed on the iodine list. Or you can email me privately and I can give you more info.Nonie > My dad is allergic to cat scan dye. He gets really bad hives and can't> breath. Guest guest
Nonie, do you have a URL for the iodine group? If it against the forum rules or etiquette to post it here, then can you send it to me privately? Thanks, Jill~
