Good posts - one other supplement you can take is: Strontium. Strontium

Bone-Maker. Strontium aids in building up new bone and also strengthens

existing bone - historical footnote, Stronium was fed to the gladiators of Rome

to

strengthen their bones. Does NOT inhibit build up of new bone which is where

the Bisphosphonate drugs fall down... And yes, correct. Bisphosphonate

drugs 'can' cause ONJ, Osteonecrosis of the jaw: jaw death, phossi-jaw! There

are a number of court cases in the pipe line on ONJ: check it out,

Bisphosphonates - side effects and Bisphosphonates - legal cases. Some papers

only

stress the IV-Bisphposphpnates, but this is incorrect, more and morre cases are

being reported on oral Bis drugs causing ONJ! It pays to read up on all that

you can find, but don't bother with the PR papers as 'written' by the

pharmaceutical cos - you won't get the correct time of day there!

Another pointer. Anyone on those Bis drugs are advised to inform their

dentist beforre ANY invasive dental work - such dental work can and has been

known to lead to jaw problems in those persons taking the Bis drugs!

Forewarned.

In addition. For Europeans out there, a drug or compound, on the market and

available by prescription, is Protelos Strontium Ranelate: been available on

the market over here for some time now, 3/4 years? Well, how to ruin a good

compound, because it is filled out, bulked with, Aspartame...and you don't

want to be anywhere near Aspartame or indeed ANY sweetener (stuff is highly

toxic, a by-product of formaldehyde. Hence to keep away from'sodas' - i.e.

those fizzy drinks that are laced with sweeteners. Also, learn to read lables,

these sweeteners are even added to yogurts! Anything that claims to be sugar

free, or 'light' PLEASE read the labels for sweetenres. IF you read

sweeteners, of any description, steer well clear of that product.)

A new compound is being formulated by a US company, Strontium Manelate.

Still undergoing trials - successful so far. But, unable to ascertain IF their

compound is rendered useless by the addition of the darn Aspartame or other

sweetener. (A totally unecessary additon. Daft.)

I myself use Strontium Bone-Maker, available over-the-counter, both in

Europe and in Nth America. Protelos Strontium Ranelate is not 'yet' FDA

approved

(too far into the pocket of Big pHarma...!!) But the Strontium Manelate

should be released sometime 2009/2010. Meantime take the OTC Strontium

Citrate/Strontium Bone-Maker.

As to side effects, there 'are' some side effects to the *Protelos Strontium

Ranelate*, can cause some heart problems: but, those problems will be due to

the Aspartame... There are no reported side effects to Strontium per se,

i.e. Strontium Citrate/Strontium Bone-Maker.

Efficacy And Quality Of Life Improvement

Article 08 May 2007 - 12:00 PDT

New, long term data presented at the 34th European Symposium on Calcified

Tissues (ECTS) this week underscore the unmatchable, long-term efficacy and

quality of life improvement offered by the anti-osteoporotic treatment,

Protelos® (strontium ranelate). These data also provide evidence to show that

Protelos has clinical benefit in a broad range of osteoporotic patients,

irrespective of their level of

bone turnover and severity of their disease. (more>>>>>>>>>)
