Guest guest
I am curious. I think that it is generally believed in this group that cleansing of the liver and kidneys is important to a persons health especially when fighting disease, but I personally have never had a cleanse suggested by a doctor. Has anyone here had a doctor recommend one? - Steve
Guest guest
A doctor recommend a cleanse of any type? LOL LOL LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry, I'll quit the sarcasm. Unfortunately, doctors that would recommend a cleanse, good diet, supplements, etc. are few and far between. The problem nowadays is that they are trained in dealing with health and disease " conventionally " and too many just don't even have a clue. More and more you see that there is no more " bedside manner, " no more " individualized " treatment. They all follow the same steps for everybody. Step one..... Step two...... etc. And this is so sad. It seems that every word that comes out of their mouth is " automatic " as that is how they have been trained. Guest guest
'Glad to brighten your day. Not to doubt you but I just called. a nurse friend that is involved in treating melenoma to ask her about cleanses. She said that they never recommend cleanses and even had to have me explain what one is. She said that there are a number of enzymes in the liver dealing with metabolizing medications. For a particular medication they would monitor the enzyme(s) associated with that medication and adjust the dosage based on what the liver could handle. I am shocked that they would not try and boost the liver's ability to support treatment. If you have a comprimised liver then good luck I suppose. - Steve-oleander soup <oleander soup >oleander soup <oleander soup >Sun Sep 28 15:09:45 2008 Re: Liver and kidney cleanseA doctor recommend a cleanse of any type? Guest guest
Hi Steve, There you go. The best they can do is give medications that seriously compromise the liver's ability to function and then test the liver once in a while to see if it is impaired. Again, this is all they know. Guest guest
That's what I have found. Basically they are testing to see how much poison your liver can handle, not actually monitoring the least amount required to effect a "cure". As a side note, DH was taking MSM for snoring - hasn't worked yet. He got a 440v shock. no burns, and liver enzymes were normal. Only lasting effeect was as though he had had a massive physical workout (which he had really) and had lactic acid pain that put him in bed, for 24 hours. Lucky I still have him, snores & all!
