Guest guest
Violet - As a former nutritional consultant and facility supervisor for a drug and alcohol recovery center for young men I would point out that besides detoxing, you should also consider the nutritional and lifestyle components of recovery. Drug use and the poor dietary and lifestyle habits of drug users leave the body deficient in vital nutrients. Also, the wrong diet can increase cravings and retard recovery just as the right diet can decrease cravings and help recovery. Sugar (including carbonated sugary drinks), junk food, fast foods, white bread, and the same kinds of foods considered unhealthy for cancer patients are the foods that help feed addiction, though recovering addicts can safely eat more fruits, drink more fruit juices and eat a bit more honey as a sugar substitute than cancer patients should. Likewise, a sedentary lifestyle and lack of sunshine, lack of fresh air and lack of good water are also obstacles. A lifestyle that includes exercise or other physical activities and good healthy diet will help greatly. I would especially encourage green leafy vegetables and omega 3s and making sure that there otherwise plenty of magnesium and calcium. Other items normally deficient in recovering drug users, including those who have used a form of hydrocodone such as " roxies " are: * Pyridoxine or Vitamin B-6 * Thiamine * Folic Acid For more suggestions, here is a pretty good article I recommend reading: http://ezinearticles.com/?Addiction-Recovery-Diet-And-Supplements & id=1090539 I hope this helps, oleander soup , " violet1946 " <sweetviolets01 wrote: > > Hello this is a question to see if anyone has any idea's on > detoxing my grandson off of a drug called roxies.
