Thank you everyone for giving some very good advice to the questions I asked. My friend who is in 4th stage

kidney/lung cancer is losing weight very rapidly. He is on several different protocols

(Budwig/Celect, Rife etc.) and is off all sugars, animal protein and refined

carbs. I want to know if anyone has used

Hemp protein, Whey protein or Soy to put on weight but not feed the

cancer. I need something to really get

some weight on him but won¢t feed or even encourage cancer to grow.

Thanks

Hi, seth, I've recently read online that blood markers

for cancer might go up temporarily while natural cancer remedies are working. A

Navarro Urine test is supposed to avoid this problem. I don't know this of my

own experience, just what I've read.

Seth,

Many diseases have an emotional component. Oncologist Bernie Siegle wrote a

book titled Love, Medicine, and Miracles which chronicles his discoveries about

the emotional components of cancer. I don't know if this is related to your

friend's reaction but it is worth exploring. I learned many years ago that

diseases can often be seen to be the creations of individuals in response to

stresses in life.

Just as some people may use drugs or alcohol to help them cope with stress,

some people get a disease. I have heard of rather violent reactions some have

had to having their disease threatened. I have also seen people in recovery

from a disease stop everything that is facilitating the recovery and return to

the disease state as it has become part of their identity. This may all be

subconscious, but the subconscious is a dumb beast that will act as if it has

been attacked if it has created a disease in what it perceives to be a

protective measure. I recommend exploring Holodynamics www.holodynamics. com

I have a friend who is in stage 4 cancer (kidney and lung)

and is on a variety of different protocols. He recently received his

order for Oleander Pills and tried one pill for 2 days. He had a very bad

emotional and mental reaction. He said it took him to a very dark and

emotional scary place, kind of like having a very bad drug trip. Has

anyone ever experienced this before or even know what this might be?

I would also like to know what the

stages of cancer

might be (symptoms, reactions etc.) for those treating cancer naturally.

I do not know the forms of detox for cancer, if they are any different than

that of any other disease one treats alternatively.

Thanks

Hello Seth,

I have read that radiation can cause cachexia, so it may be difficult to know if it's the cancer or the "therapy".

I don't know from personal experience, but here is some information I have. Some of it is old information, but I am sure that someone will know if this is still relevant. This presumably, was in conjunction with allopathic poisoning, so it should be a lot more effective with the more natural approach!

·FISH OILS:

Podell, R. N. Fish oil slows cancer cachexia. Health & Nutrition Breakthroughs. June 1998.

· Tisdale, M., et al. Inhibition of weight loss by omega-3 fatty acids in an experimental cachexia model. Cancer Research. 50:5022-5026, 1990.

Fish Oils significantly decreased the loss of body weight caused by cachexia, and at the same time, muscle mass was significantly increased. This experiment involved animals.

· Tisdale, M. J Nat Cancer Inst. 89: 1763-1773, 1997.

· Wigmore, S., et al. Nutrition. 12(1 Supplement):S27-S30, 1996.

18 patients with inoperable pancreatic cancer were given 12,000 mg of fish oil capsules (containing 18% EPA + 12% DHA) per day. All patients had been losing an average of 3 pounds per month prior to receiving fish oil capsules. During the first three months of supplementation, the average weight of patients increased by 2/3 pound per month. Eleven patients gained weight, three experienced no change in their weight and four patients continued to lose weight. Researchers demonstrated that weight gain was not caused by fluid retention. The authors concluded: “Oral fish-oil supplementation significantly altered the progression of cachexia in a group of pancreatic cancer patients. Before supplementation, all of the study group experienced progressive weight loss; however, following administration of fish oil, three-quarters of the group were either weight-stable or actually gained a small amount of

weight. It is unlikely that the observed changes in weight were caused by a placebo effect since administration of gamma-linoleic acid (GLA) to a matched group of weight-losing pancreatic cancer patients had no significant influence on the overall pattern of weight loss”.

FERMENTED YEAST:

Bio-Strath or Haelen 951

Schwarzenbach, F.H., et al. [Effects of a herbal yeast preparation in convalescent patients.] Schweizerische Zeitschrift fur Ganzheits Medizin. 8(6):266-273, 1996.

AMINOS:

Cangiano, C., et al. Effects of administration of oral branched chain amino acids on anorexia and caloric intake in cancer patients. J Natl Canc Instit. 88:550-552, 1996.

Supplementation with BCAAs reduces the anorexia and improves the overall food intake of cancer patients experiencing cachexia.

· Kalman, D. S. Branched-chain amino acids: your key to enhanced performance and fat loss. Muscular Development. 36(9):60-62, 1999.

BOVINE CARTILAGE: meant to retard cachexia. No independent info on this, I'm sorry.

Does anyone know if this a worthwhile site? http://www.tumorx.org/prostate-cancer.html

It mentions this inhibits cancer cell proliferation, but not cachexia specifically. You'd need a clean supply if this is a viable option.

BioRenue Bovine Cartilage: Cartilage has been studied for over 30 years. Clinical trials have supported the assertion that BioRenue Bovine Cartilage will stop/inhibit the spread, growth and proliferation of cancer cells.

A study published in the Journal of Experimental Medicine by Brem and Folkman showed that: Cartilage decreased the rate in which new blood vessels were formed by 75%. In 28% of patients who used BioRenue Bovine Cartilage this natural substance completely inhibited new blood vessel formations to the tumor .e.g., stopped the cancer from metastasizing.

All the best to you & your friend who is fortunate to have your loving care! Would that we all had such a friend. Luckily we all have our oleander friends!

I learned that more good fat and oils will slow down the weight loss

as well as egg white's.I ate more often and foods like Fava beans and Garbonzo's

with garlic (soup) and then floated oil on the top with toasted pine nuts.It was so good

and healthy too.I tried to find anything I could add oil to.I stopped losing weight.

Just a suggestion from my own experience.

Seth,

Seth,

Spirulina is very good for anyone having nutritional problems. It has

been used by the WHO for malnourished babies in third world countries

because it takes almost no digestion and has a very balanced

nutritional profile. Some people have actually lived on it for

extended periods of time. It contains all essential amino acids making

it a complete protein source which is rare in plants. It is high in B

complex and contains several carotenes including Beta carotene as well

as a phycocyanine, a pigment that has a strong anti-cancer effect. It

is also high in minerals except for calcium. It contains Omega 3s and

a sugar known as rhamnose, which is known as a carrier that will

transport substances into cells. (Rhamnose is added to some drugs to

assist in their delivery into cells.) And of course it is also high in

chlorophyll which means that it should be started in small doses to

avoid a big detox reaction.

Spirulina seems to help with a lot of the problems that affect cancer

patients including ameliorating effects of traditional medical

treatments. I recommend that it be used in powdered form and blended

with juices, fresh made organic vegetable juice being the preference.

As I mentioned in another post, my favorite variety is Sprulina

Maxima. It is available from several outlets but I tracked it down to

the importer who also supplies the other companies and it was cheaper

to get it from them. They are a small company in New Mexico

http://www.elixline.com

Another thing to consider is aloe vera. There is a long chain

polysaccharide (acetylated polymannose or acemannen) in aloe that is

very healing, helps reduce side effects of drugs and increases the

effectiveness of both nutrients and drugs. It is also very helpful for

the digestive tract. Not all aloe products are processed in such a way

as to preserve this compound. I have heard that Lily of the Desert has

tested to be high in acemannen. There is a pharmaceutical company that

extracts this chemical and adds it to various human and animal

products. They also make it available alone as Manapole. If you do an

internet search you will find it. If you do a search on the various

names for this compound you will turn up quite a list of research on

it including it's anti-viral effects.

About a third of my practice is in weightloss, and it works great if you remedy

the underlying disorder, most of the time it's heat in the ST meridian w

indiscriminate gnawing hunger. I also see people with sugar addictions similar

to alcohol addictions, liver depression, or damp heat. I gear the herbs to the

condition. Qing wei san for St heat, Grennexcellence, a Healthconcerns product

for suagr addiction, I also use Spirulina to reduce cravings. I use a counseling

method called " Motivational Interviewing " and ask the patient what they think

needs to change.

Research has shown that overweight people have all the notional info they need

and they know heat they need to do. It doesn't work to just repeat what they

have heard 1000x. Ask them more indirectly: Why do you think you are not making

the changes? What would it take to make a change? Once they talk about the

changes they WANT to make, it become more likely that they will actually change

their behavior. It needs to be an inner orientation, instead of something they

are told by someone else.

repeated studies have shown that if you divide study participants into those

that receive acupuncture and those who don't and give everyone the same dietary

advice, the acupuncture group loses about twice as much weight as the control

group.

a patient of mine just asked my opinion on acai for weight loss. i

haven't researched it at all, so i told her i'd look into it. of

course i have my doubts about anything with such hype, but i thought

i'd see if any of you have an educated opinion on the subject. my

patient is a 59 year old woman who i have been treating for

menopausal hot flashes with acupuncture only, which have reduced

significantly. she is somewhat overweight but not obese.
