Sutherlandia OPC and antioxidants

Hi Rhoda,

There are no antioxidants added to the Sutherlandia OPC mixture.

During normal oxidative processes in our body and as a result of chemicals and other external influences, so-called "free radicals" are formed that are harmful to our bodies. These free radicals are electrons that are not attached to atoms and they can cause a lot of damage unless they can be neutralized. This is the job of antioxidants.

Antioxidants are found in varying concentrations in many plants but vitamins, minerals and enzymes produced by our own bodies also function as antioxidants. The following is a list of the most common ones:

Acetylcysteine, Alpha Lipoic Acid, Bilberry, Burdock, Carnosine, Catalase, CLA, Coenzyme Q10, Cryptoxanthin, Curcumin, Daidzein, DHEA, DMAE, Garlic, Ginkgo Biloba, Grape Seed, Green Tea, Genistein, Germanium, Glutamine, Glutathione, Manganese, Melatonin, Methionine, OPC (Oligomeric Proanthocyanidins), Paba, Pine Bark, Pycnogenol, Quercetin, Resveratrol, Selenium, Superoxide Dismutase, Taurine, Vitamin A and Carotenoids, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and Selenium. Flavonoids / polyphenols found, in descending order, in pomegranate Juice, red wine, Concord grape juice, blueberry juice, black cherry juice, açaí juice, cranberry juice, orange juice, and apple juice. Lutein found in dark green vegetables and Lycopene, found in tomatoes and watermelon. Lignan, found in barley, rye, oats and flax seed..The body also makes antioxidant enzymes like catalase, glutathione peroxidase and superoxide dismutase.

You will see OPC on the above list but this is NOT the same OPC as Sutherlandia OPC. The antioxidants OPC (Oligomeric Proanthocyanidins) are found in grape seed and pine bark. My mixture initially consisted of Agaricus mushroom, Oleander, Pau D'Arco and Cat's Claw. It was called Agaricus OPC (the initials of the last 3 ingredients). When I changed the mixture to Sutherlandia and Oleander, the name was already well known and I decided to keep the OPC part - thus Sutherlandia OPC (now standing for Sutherlandia Oleander Purified Concentrate).

Tony and Marc; immune builders with DMSO/MMS/MSM ?

The DMSO/MMS/MSM protocol stated specifically, no antioxidants and no immune builders. Our Vladimir pointed out that the melanoma OCC protocol says to continue oleander. I corresponded with Webster Keir of CancerTutor about the discrepancy. . DOES SUTHERLANDIA FRUTICENSE CONTAIN ANTIOXIDANTS? I'm going right back on my home-made OS. It does upset my tum, so I'll wait to see whether there are any antioxidants in the OPC. Here's Webster's reply. Rhoda:

Rhoda:

Oleander has a huge ability as an immune builder., so I understand your comment. However, I do not think oleander CONTAINS any antioxidants.

In other words,, most immune builders include several different products, including antioxidants. But oleander, to my knowledge, while it is an immune builder, does not include any antioxidants which have been ADDED to it.

I have never seen the oleander bottle. If you see one, please look on the label and tell me what is added to the oleander plant.

I have assumed that the oleander does not have any antioxidants added to it.

The plant itself should not be considered an antioxidant, even though it is an immune builder.

Thanks,

Webster
