Guest guest
Tingling, especially on the lips if you touch them to the extract is a very likely sign of chemical contamination, most likely an insecticide and most likely malathion - which is commonly used in nurseries as well as by homeowners. I would advise you to discard your soup and find a new plant source or else order the OPC. If it is malathion, the good news is that you have so far consumed only a small amount and it does break down and get eliminated from the body fairly quickly - however, it is not at all safe to continue to consume. And it may be something more dangerous than malathion. oleander soup , Oscar Herrera <oscar142142 wrote: > > I have made two oleander soup batches with organic oleander and when I put it > under my tongue it makes y mouth a little numb and tingling including m finger tips and my > hearth work a little faster it last a couple hours, after I feel great. Guest guest
Though I'm sure that this might be caused by malathion, I've noticed that I experience numbness for a few minutes on the tip of my tongue when I hold the oleander soup in my mouth for a few minutes. It feels similar to one of those numbing mouthwashes/gargles my mother used to give me as a kid when I had a sore throat. (It was called Cepacol). I know the oleander is not contaminated, because it comes from my brother's wooded lot where he has lived for years. I thought at first that it was due to the vodka. When I tried it before adding the vodka it did the same thing. Herbal bitters alcohol free) held in the mouth do something similar to me, but nowhere near as intense. I get no other "side effect" even with a tablespoonful.Mike GoldenTony oleander soup Sent: Thursday, September 4, 2008 2:38:06 PM Tingling is not a good sign! Guest guest
Just for the record, I get no numbing or tingling whatsoever. In your case Mike, you are sure that it has not been sprayed by commercial insecticides. But a good rule of thumb is that if you feel any numbing or tingling, to discard the recipe. Our health is to precious to take a chance with.
