Hi Bonnie,Yes, please give Cody all his supplements even while taking prednisone. It will not interfere. I'm not sure I understood your post, were you referring to the fact that he is recoveing from his chemo treatment of a few weeks ago? Was he given treatment yesterday?How long does the vet plan to keep him on prednisone? And please... please.... don't take this wrong, but although I am so very happy that Cody is eating, Prednisone comes with its own price and I have seen its devastating effect on people. Hopefully, Cody will only need to take it very short term. Also, when it is time to go off it, the reduction must be slowly. Did the vet give you a list of side effects? I have included them below, please be aware of them and watch Cody carefully.Also..... And here is a red flag, if Cody is still on antibiotics, this could interact with the prednisone. The following are mentioned specifically, but I would be wary of all antibiotics. Actually, I am wary of all antibiotics anyway. Ketoconazole (Nizoral), rifampin (Rifadin, Rifater, Rifamate, Rimactane), or troleandomycin (Tao).Bonnie, is he still taking colloidal silver? I would pump him up with the silver. This will truly protect him against infections. Really. And it is totally safe. This is all I ever use.Here are the side effects:

problems with your vision;

swelling, rapid weight gain, feeling short of breath;

severe depression, unusual thoughts or behavior, seizure (convulsions);

bloody or tarry stools, coughing up blood;

pancreatitis (severe pain in your upper stomach spreading to your back, nausea and vomiting, fast heart rate);

low potassium (confusion, uneven heart rate, extreme thirst,

increased urination, leg discomfort, muscle weakness or limp feeling);

or

dangerously high blood pressure (severe headache, blurred vision,

buzzing in your ears, anxiety, confusion, chest pain, shortness of

breath, uneven heartbeats, seizure).

Less serious side effects may include:

sleep problems (insomnia), mood changes;

acne, dry skin, thinning skin, bruising or discoloration;

slow wound healing;

increased sweating;

headache, dizziness, spinning sensation;

nausea, stomach pain, bloating; or

changes in the shape or location of body fat (especially in your arms, legs, face, neck, breasts, and waist).

This is not a complete list of side effects and others may occur. Tell your doctor about any unusual or bothersome side effect.Hugs,> > Bonnie & Cody (who btw is now on prednisone and recovering from his chemo > treatment after his vet visit yesterday) Hadn't eaten on his own in 17 days so > vet put him on pred, seems to be working now and hoping I can continue on > with his oleander/cs/ip6 protocol now! Hello dear Bonnie,

You & Cody are going through such a difficult time, my heart goes out to you both.

However I agree with May.

Prednisone suppresses - it has never cured anything. I used to take it when asthma was uncontrolled 30 years ago. It is a dangerous poison. I became asthmatic at age 13 following Tb vaccination - yet another poison! Even when decreasing the dose gradually, there was still a rebound effect so eventually it no longer works AND you have the side effects to contend with as well as infections - skin, lungs, eyes, ears, sinuses, bladder, also fungus infection - you name it, following the withdrawal of this poison. See Shirley's Wellness Cafe re steroids.

One drug used will always lead to more & more drugs for side effects. I had 7 for asthma & side effects! I threw the lot out in 1985 except the ventolin - have now got rid of that too!

It's a tough call.

My son was put on steroids when he developed thrombophlebitis when given aggressive IV antibiotics for suspected osteomyelitis. [it wasn't.] Luckily he only had one dose before I found out what they had given him. They also wanted him to take painkillers, yet the pain was only exquisite if the dr prodded the tender area! He had quite a little collection in his bedside table drawer in the 72 hrs he was in hospital.We ended up discharging him from hospital to find a dr who DID know how to treat him properly.

All best wishes to you.

Hi May,

I am new in this group. My dog, Zack, has lymphoma and I was interested

in Cody's case, but the information available to me here seems

fragmented. What exactly is the dose of everything ( IP6 , colloidal

silver, oleander and where do I get it)? Is there a specific protocol

for canine lymphoma that you & Tony recommend? He did well for a couple

of months on the Budwig FO/CC mixture until he absolutely refused to eat

it anymore. He went downhill for a week then he has been on prednisone

for 2 weeks and I am now gradually weaning him off it. I must do an

alternative treatment soon, but I have been having alot of trouble

deciding which treatment to give him. He is only 7 years old. He seems

very reluctant to stand up anymore, which may be due to muscle weakness

as prednisone side effect. He also seems depressed. I was also looking

into Arteminisin, but haveing trouble getting a specific protocol on

that. What is the most successfull treatment for canine lymphoma on

record? Is there a record? I have searched for hours, days, weeks,

months online and I am at a loss when it comes to actually deciding on

the right protocol, let alone implimenting it. I need more specifics, I

guess. Please help.

Thanks, Zackymag
