Wondering if... Nourishment and vitamins

Hi Bonnie, and everyone,

This is my first post--I joined this list a while ago and have been reading everything and am very grateful for everything I have learned here... I just want to mention to you Bonnie, that the fact that Cody will not chew the vitamin tablet should not deter you from giving it to him. You can still give it to him--you can crush it and mix it in with the food you give him by syringe. But there is also a high-calorie nutritional supplement called Nutri-Cal made especially for pets who are not eating, it's a paste that comes in a tube. Also there is a liquid "ensure" type of complete liquid canned nutritional supplement for pets, which also comes as a powder that you mix with water.

It's very important for Cody to get a lot of nourishment right now + vitamins and minerals. The B vitamins stimulate the appetite, so that would be a good thing to give him, or a formula that contains them.

I think that maybe if Cody is not snapping out of it on his own this time as fast as he did before, it's because he's weaker than he was before, since he has not been eating... I have a sweet 4 yr old kitty, Honey, who at 2 yrs of age was diagnosed with leukemia and severe anemia and the doctors just gave up on him and sent us home, saying he could die any moment because of the state his blood was in. I had heard about Essiac, so I started him on that right away, and that made him a bit better, but still for months afterwards he would not eat on his own. I knew it was very important to get nourishment into his body, so I fed him by syringe for a long period of time, three times a day, till he came around, for almost 6 months I believe. It was a very long journey for us, and sometimes it was very depressing, because in the beginning Honey would always seem worse for a while right after I gave him his food and supplements, so I would wonder if I was doing the right thing... But after several hours of being worse after each meal, he would usually perk up a bit and seemed a bit better, so I continued on.... Eventually he started showing real improvement. He surprised me one day, when I was getting ready to feed him, by licking up on his own the meal I had prepared to give to him by syringe! I had to laugh at that!

He is well now, only still slightly anemic, but the leukemia is gone. He has a good appetite and acts totally normal, playing and running around as he did before he got sick...

I gave Honey all kinds of remedies, Essiac, olive leaf extract, black walnut & wormwood extract, artemisinin, beta glucan (shrinks tumors & helps the immune system) and many others, as I did not know about oleander soup at the time. I also gave him a lot of nutritional supplements, including whey protein and that also helped bring back his appetite. Whey protein is very good for debilitating diseases, when the patient won't eat on his own.

I just wanted to tell you not to give up on Cody, but in addition to the remedies he also needs a lot of good nourishment and vitamins to make it and he needs you to give this to him if he won't eat on his own.
