My email address list has been deleted. Sorry, but I need to ask Marc a question. Actually, several of you may be interested. Marc, my digestion is impaired right now, and I'm having a lot of trouble with my homemade OS, but not with OPC caps. 1. How certain are you that they are equivalent? 2. I have active cancer now. How many OPC caps a day do you recommend? Thanks Rhoda

Rhoda,

Marc recommends two caps a day to start with, then if you tolerate them go to 4 daily. I'm sure Marc will answer you directly.

Below is what Marc has sent to the list:

Sutherlandia OPC capsules

Start

off by taking 1 capsule with breakfast for 2 days.

Increase

dosage to 1 capsule twice per day (2 caps total) with breakfast and lunch for a

further 2 days.

For

more serious ailments increase dosage to 2 capsules twice per day (4 caps

total) with breakfast and lunch for 1 month.

If no

improvement, increase dosage to 3 capsules twice per day (6 caps total)

with breakfast and lunch for 2 months.

Sutherlandia OPC (Liquid)

Start

off by taking 5ml (1 teaspoon) once per day during mealtime for 2 days.

Increase

dosage to 5 ml twice per day with meals for a further 2 days.

Increase

dosage to 5ml three times per day with meals for 1 month.

If no

improvement, increase dosage to 10ml three times per day for 2 months.

If

still no response, the dosage can be increased to 45ml per day (3 x 15ml)

Be Well

Loretta

Hopefully the busy Marc will see this and answer himself. I saw

somewhere that someone here reported getting a message from Marc to

the effect that the caps were not quite as potent (but if so, that may

be compensated for by his recommended dosages).

I have often stated that I have no reason at all to doubt the caps,

but that I personally prefer and recommend the extract simply because

that is what has been around by far the longest and what has the

proven track record, so far as I know. I look forward to seeing more

information regarding successes directly related to the capsule version.

I would suggest in the interim that you filter your home made soup an

additional time through several layers of unbleached coffee filters

and see if that helps.

Hi Rhoda,

The home made OS often causes problems because of inadequate filtering. The other problem could be the formation of microscopic mould that is not visible to the naked eye. I have noticed mould forming within 24 hours of making the OS. That is why a proper preservative is so important. The Sutherlandia OPC capsules are made by evaporating the water fairly quickly and mixing the remaining dry powder with the Sutherlandia powder. The mould cannot grow in the dry mixture. So, if you make the OS, make absolutely sure that you filter it properly.

BTW, one of the benefits of the S/OPC that I have experienced myself is a gradual thickening of my hair and my bald spot getting smaller. Has anyone else experienced that?

Regards,

Marc Swanepoel

Many people have enquired about the effectiveness of the Sutherlandia OPC capsules versus the liquid. My personal experience in using the capsules for nearly a year now, is that there is no difference between the two. This is confirmed by feedback from others. What difference there is, is mainly due to the aversion that some people have towards the taste of the liquid. For many users, the smell alone is enough to bring on a feeling of nausea. Others can drink it like a soda with no problem.

The content of the liquid and the capsules is identical for all practical purposes with the capsules having a slightly higher percentage of Sutherlandia Frutescens than the liquid. This due to the fact that the capsules are made by evaporating the water very rapidly from the initial oleander extract in a separate process. The oleander extract powder thus obtained is then mixed with the same quantity of Sutherlandia powder as was used in making the initial Sutherlandia extract. One can see that the actual raw Sutherlandia powder included in this manner will be higher than the amount in the extract (if one had to evaporate the water from the initial Sutherlandia extract, one will get less powder than by including the powder used for MAKING this extract). If you read the label on the capsules you will note that there is 66mg of the "Concentrated Nerium Extract" per capsule. For 60 capsules, this comes to 3960mg per bottle. In making the oleander extract, one uses 50gm (50,000mg) raw oleander and 15gm Sutherlandia powder. Of the 50gm oleander, roughly 4gm (8%) thus make up the active ingredients. The same will be true of the Sutherlandia extract. That is why the capsules have the same amount of active oleander ingredients as the liquid but more of the Sutherlandia ingredients than the liquid. The total 15gm Sutherlandia powder is mixed with the 4gm dry oleander extract powder.

Hope this makes sense to everybody.

Marc,

I have a question for you. Why don't you make a pure oleander extract capsule or liquid? Why do you make a combination of that with Sutherlandia? Just curious... but does the combination work better than the oleander alone?

Thanks.
