This is a web page from a company putting out a product, but it gives an idea of what ingredients are in it. Wondering if this is typical ingredient list for this kind of product.

I'm a little wary of Lecithin, Whey Protein Isolate and Nutritional Yeast, based on the writings of Elaine Hollingsworth, but the Shitake Mushrooms - or medicinal mushrooms in general - intrigues me. I was listening to a podcast of Waiora's AgariGold product, which is really expensive, but iHerb has cheaper Agaricus mushroom products. Anyway, Agaricus is supposedly a very good source of these so-called essential sugars.

Thanks, Mike.

I've been trying to find out about glyconutrients recently since someone recommended them, and have been stymied by not being able to find anything not put out by one of the companies selling them.

Also , since I am new here, I would appreciate knowing a little about you and your background and where you are coming from.

From a clinical nutrition perspective there is really no such thing as a glyconutrient. I believe the term was coined in the multilevel marketing world. What they are usually talking about are various sugars. Many of these sugars do play a role in immunity. I think you are best off using mushroom products (shitake, maitake, etc.) along with aloe vera and other natural sources. These "glyconutrient" formulas seem overpriced and , despite what the advocates say, without research support. There are many individual products that naturally contain many of these sugars that do have supporting research and are also cost effective.Mike

Hello everyone; does anyone have experience with the glyconutrients? I have been having favorable results with increasing watermelon consumption, and I see references to it helping the liver because of certain sugars, so I remembered the glyco refs from the past. One of the "sugars" in glycos is from shittake mushrooms; I know this is beneficial from my own experience. The premise is that nutritional deficiencies are the basic cause of problems and the glycos reverse that issue. Can anyone recommend a brand or otherwise? Thanks

Thanks, Roger.

From what I have seen, there seems to be a pretty wide variation of ingredients in different formulas.

It always interests me how different we all are. I also have become wary of lecithin, esp. after reading how it is made.

I'll have to go 'Google' Elaine Hollingsworth, since that is a new name to me. But I have done well with whey concentrate in the past, and it is apparently a primary source of one of the glyconutrients.

What I am really wary of is anything mushroom, since I have always had mold, fungal issues. I remember knowing as a child (before we knew much of anything else!) that I was 'allergic' to mold.

Several years ago I had clients asking

for a glyconutrient product that wasn’t as expensive as the well-marketed

MLM Glyco and of course one in which they didn’t have to join anything in

order to get a good price. Glyconutrients certainly have their successful

place in aiding the immune system and people who use them correctly almost

always can tell a difference. I formulated GlycoEssential 7 (left out the

glucose because everyone gets too much of that anyway and I wanted diabetics to

be able to use the product) and added our Optimum Mushroom Complex that is

better than any I have seen including MGN-3, Bio-Bran, etc. GlycoEssential

7 also contains a very high amount of the best organic Aloe Vera available.

We had several practitioners using GE7 and our Premier 8 (no longer available –

same as GE7 without the mushrooms) in New Orleans and surrounding areas for the

“Katrina Cough” with huge success. It is a great immune

booster and I personally make sure that the ingredients are the best on the

market today.

Certainly one can make a glyconutrient formula on their own, but knowing how

and where to get quality ingredients can be over-whelming at best – and

also knowing who to believe as far as what a specific ingredient can accomplish

can make even the most seasoned of buyers want to pull their hair out!

Our food supply is becoming woefully short in providing the necessary vitamins

and nutrients that toxic bodies need to repair and heal. And

unfortunately we are even seeing this shortage with some “organic”

produce. The “science” of man producing a bigger and better food

supply through the use of toxic chemical and genetic manipulation is not smart

or even good common sense and it will be our health that will pay drastically.
