Guest guest
So sorry to hear about your predicament. In my case, I ordered the pills and liquid (the latter by accident) and I alternate. There have been a few time where I had to cut back to 1 teaspoon or 1 pill per day because of skin sensitivity. Also, maybe it might be an idea to cut back until there are no intestinal problems and perhaps stay at that dosage for a bit and slowly build up to it? At any rate, with the experience and sincerity on this group I know you'll find what U both need. Special thoughts to your husband and you also for supporting him during this healing process! Guest guest
sunlovernv, I have used the OPC for several months, both the liquid and the capsules and have the same problem your husband has. The problem started with my second bottle of the liquid, it was stronger. I have now gone to the capsules, but still have the same problem. I will continue to use the OPC along with my other supplements (did not change any supplements when I started on the OPC ), but I make sure I am close to a bathroom and if I am going some where the next day, I do not take the OPC the night before. I did stop using the second bottle until I got back to normal. I started using it again until I used up the bottle the bottle, and the problem returned, that is when I went to the capsules and I am using 4 capsules/day. Guest guest
If using the capsules (why is everyone calling them " pills " ?) results in diarrhea, I would recommend using the liquid form (which I prefer) and if you have problems with that, try additional filtering. I have used a very strong concentration of oleander in amounts up to greater than the maximum doseage, but which I also filtered an additional time with a few layers of coffee filters, and I have never had diarrhea. Looser stools, yes, but never diarrhea. It should be noted that those who did not filter the homemade " soup " as greatly in the past normally adjusted to all of the relatively mild side effects, including diarrhea, in short order as they worked their way up from 1/4 to 1/2 a teaspoon all the way to 1 tablespoon three times daily. If you take the capsules over a long period of time and do not adjust to them, I suspect that something may be causing it besides the large organic compounds found in the liquid that has not been thoroughly filtered. oleander soup , " lewis " <jimk32 wrote: > > sunlovernv, > I have used the OPC for several months, both the liquid and the capsules and have the same problem your husband has. Guest guest
Tony: This brings me to my second question: what is the difference between the capsules and the liquid? You said you prefer the liquid. Why? Is the liquid more effective? or does it get faster results? Is it absorbed better? Guest guest
A lot of people can’t afford colon hydrotherapy and, personally, I think there are a lot of things that can go wrong. Some people actually get addicted to them and then the bowel becomes very sluggish. Something that I used in my cancer protocol and still use, for myself and clients, is oxygen-based colon cleansing. It cleans from the small intestine down and adds healing oxygen to the intestinal tract. I use Mag O7 and the results are very, very good. We even have some colon hydrotherapists recommending it along with colonics. I understand the reason “why”, but really, all clients would need to use is the Mag O7. I certainly agree with you Tammatha in that everyone needs to be cleansing and detoxifying – especially those with degenerative disease. Guest guest
It is not expensive, depends on who does it. Our health is worth it the extra effort. People become afraid of things that they don't know about. Opening the mind up to alternatives is what we are about here at the forum. Colon hydrotherapy is definately not mainstream. I too was concerned at first but, if you have a qualified person doing it, it is an amazing treatment. The bowels only become sluggish when it is impacted which is where the hydrotherapy comes in and helps move it out. It also cleans the liver, gallbladder and other organs which is invaluable as we know. People are already rather fearful of the procedure and when people say things can go wrong it only exacerbates it. It is an excellent way to cleanse since the colon cannot do it on it's own no matter what you supplement, you ingest, or how much you sweat or how hard you breath. There are only a few ways gunk can get out... skin, mouth, peeing or having a bowel movement. It is pretty limited. They say our digestive system is around 70-80% percent of our immune system. Yes, I also do the ozonated colon hydrotherapy as well. I believe CH has helped me become cancer free no doubt. Thanks for the note Loretta! Guest guest
This past January, after never having even one indication of diverticulitis, my husband wound up in the hospital and had to have part of his colon removed due to severe infection. It was a real learning experience, considering neither of us have ever been seriously ill. But after the reversal surgery (he had a colostomy while waiting for the colon to heal) I thought to ask his surgeon about the colon. I know that most health issues reside in, or are due to the condition of, the colon. I know that many advocate colon cleanses, both internally and through hydro. Personally I feel like an oral cleanse is best, but I wanted his surgeons opinion because I really trust her. So I asked her about the colon. I have read and seen the photos of all the gunk that comes out during hydrotherapy cleanses, and yet I have also read where a surgeon has stated that in all his years he never saw a plugged colon like the photos show (like a clogged drain). She has done literally hundreds of colon surgeries, so I figured if the colon looked so plugged up she would have seen that. She said no, she had never seen that. She said that the inside of the colon was smooth, in all the cases she saw. She said she did believe it was important to keep things moving, but she much preferred--and recommended--that it be done from one end, the mouth, and not the other. She said as the colon is made to expel things downward, it is much easier to clean it in a downward position (via the mouth) than sending something up it to clean it out. :-) Hard to argue with those photos, on the one hand, but hard to argue with a doctor who does these types of surgeries routinely, on the other. Hmmmm-what to believe? Well, I believe that a colon should be kept working properly, and that the very best way to do that is through diet and exercise, and perhaps a few supplements and an occasional oral colon cleanse. Maybe the hydro cleanses should only be kept as a last resort. Samala, Renee--still unsure. ---- A lot of people can’t afford colon hydrotherapy and, personally, I think there are a lot of things that can go wrong. Guest guest
In Houston, colonics are very expensive and there is no guarantee of “good health” from using colonics. Unfortunately, I have seen more than several clients who are “hooked” on colon hydrotherapy in that their bowels become sluggish if they skip their weekly treatment. And I have also seen those who have not had good experiences with colonics – herbs put into the water in which they had a reaction, therapists that don’t know what they are doing and there is always the question of cleanliness. A caution is definitely urged especially since there are easier ways to accomplish the same thing. According to Jon Barron (I definitely agree with him) colonics do not draw from bowel pockets or tissue or flush out all the bacteria. They can also disrupt the pH balance of the colon. And they do not get up into the small intestine where food is actually absorbed – this is where assimilation, absorption and utilization take place. This area needs to be kept clean in order for nutrients to be used effectively. People are paying a lot for a service in which oxygen-based cleansing can do the very same thing more effectively – in the privacy of their own homes and for ¼ to ½ of the cost. You are certainly correct about the elimination routes; however, when they are working effectively, we are not limited at all as they are very sufficient to get all the toxins out. Men have 4 routes and women 5, as long as the menstrual cycle is still present. It’s worthy to make note that we seem to see more degenerative disease in women after menopause when they loose the menstrual cycle elimination route. And recently, Big Pharma is trying to entice young women to get on a continuous birth control pill that allows only 3-4 periods per year. Of course, most MD’s are jumping on the band-wagon convincing women and girls that there is no reason to have a monthly period – much like they say that the gallbladder is useless. <sigh> This will undoubtedly lead to more disease or infertility to which they will be glad to develop another med – if the truth is known, it is probably already in the works. I will have to disagree that the colon can only be kept clean with hydrotherapy. I have been using oxygen-based cleansing for myself and also working with others in cleansing and detoxification for over eight years. I healed from colon cancer without colonics or even enemas (Thank you, God! I remember being very fearful that my doc would require enemas. LOL!) Also, there is usually not a lot of gunk built up in the colon like the pictures on the Internet of colons that looked like 5-inch clogged pipes, unless someone is REALLY, REALLY constipated and hasn’t had a bowel movement in a month – which means they would be very uncomfortable and in a lot of pain. Otherwise, these pictures are pure exaggeration. The colon and small intestine actually get food trapped inside the folds and often a mucosa film developes. If we magnified this 500x’s we might get somewhat of a clogged-looking picture but it is usually not noticeable with the human eye. I had a colonoscopy before my surgery for colon cancer and was awake for the whole procedure (whatever they gave to knock me out didn’t work – until the procedure was over). I should have had years of built-up material according to my VERY unhealthy diet and lifestyle, but the inside was just as pink and clean as ever – until the scope reached the tumor section. It looked absolutely “evil”! The pictures of “rope-looking junk” that we see on the Internet are almost always a result of people taking Psyllium Husks which, when mixed with liquid, actually expand and take the form of whatevery they are in. I also don’t recommend herbs for colon cleansing because many of the ones used are just too harsh on the system producing a lot of gas and cramping. Psyllium Husks tend to scrape the intestinal tract thus causing irritation. I am certainly an avid advocate (AA) of a clean digestive tract – but I advocate keeping the entire digestive tract clean. Cleansing is very important but so is eating raw, organic fruits and vegetables which also help with keeping the digestive tract clean and flowing. Raw juicing of vegetables like beets, celery and greens along with eating nuts and seeds will help to keep the digestive tract clean. As will proper hydration which means purified water that is not stored in plastic. Guest guest
Loretta we are definately on different pages. Like I said I'm not here to convince anybody about how to care for themselves. This is obviously an opinionated subject for most. My thoughts end here with it. Tammatha - Dr. Loretta Lanphier oleander soup Thursday, June 26, 2008 6:42 PM RE: Diarrhea from the OPC In Houston, colonics are very expensive and there is no guarantee of “good health” from using colonics. Guest guest
Different pages are not a bad thing, Tammatha. It’s what makes life interesting. The most important thing that I have found as far as natural medicine goes is to research, educate and ask questions, so that good decisions can be made when the time comes. I would guess that is why most people are on this forum. It’s why I’m here. I am anxiously waiting for the good testimonies to start coming in from those using oleander for cancer. I have been taking the capsules and cannot really report anything, but then I don’t have cancer. I tried the liquid, but got some of the bad stuff that wasn’t filtered properly and it made me feel really bad. So I was a little hesitant to try the capsules but because I don’t ever recommend anything that I haven’t tried myself, I decided to give it a go and I am almost finished with my first bottle with no side-effects except for some loose stools every once-in-a-while. We have three HUGE oleadner bushes in our backyard, but I am “chicken” to try to make the soup myself. I realize that I am very “passionate” about certain subjects and I guess it’s because I know, first hand, what it’s like to lose your health, go through the antics of conventional medicine and finally get the courage to step out-of-the-box toward natural medicine, wondering if l “really” could get well. I know what it took for me to heal from stage III cancer. Doesn’t necessarily make me an expert, just someone who has walked the path and knows without a doubt that if I can do it, so can others. So I tend to get “preachy” about preventative measures. If I have offended you in any way, please accept my apology. I really appreciate what you bring to the table. Guest guest
No issue here Loretta, but we need to keep an open mind to all things here. I too know first hand as well since I was diagnosed with cancer as well 2 years ago. I elected to do no chemo or radiation or tamoxifen, and whatever other poison the white coats wanted to give me. I'm strictly doing my own treatment, a cure thyself. My husband & I pay a fortune in (conventional) health care every month and I don't even use it. I can honestly say that detoxing using colon hydrotherapy among other things I'm doing has helped me in many ways and believe in can help others as well, we should share what has worked for us and shed some light on that of which is not mainstream. I agree about the OPC capsules. I'm taking it too along with my doggie Weaver, so far nothing to report, are no changes/symptoms good news? I too am chicken to try and make the soup.
