Questions about soup

I asked these questions when I first joined but never got an answer, and as I have just made another batch I thought I'd ask again.

How long will the soup last, refrigerated, without any preservatives? I'd like to give this to my dogs and thought that it would be better for them without the alcohol. Vinegar is ok, but I'd prefer the plain soup. Just don't know how long it will keep without preservative.

Second question--the directions say the preservative will extend the shelf life of the soup by 6 months. So how long is the shelf life of unpreserved, and for preserved? I remember someone (Mike?) wrote that his was still good after 3 years? If so, how do you know it is still good? Like, is there a test to see if it is still potent, or do you go by color and taste?

Thanks

Renee

I've made a large enough quantity that I'm wondering if freezing a portion of it would work. Does anyone have experience with this ?Mike

Well, that makes sense but I had the feeling that it would last months longer than that, without preservatives. I must just have made that up in my head I guess. :-)

Well, herbal extracts made with alcohol, if made right, can last for many, many years. Dr. Schulze has said that he's tasted 30 year old tinctures with as much kick as new ones!

No, I don't think I'd freeze it either. So long as the preservative was alcohol it should be good for at least a few years. No need to freeze.

I was just wondering if there was enough anti-everything in the soup itself to make it last for a few months while my dogs took it. I guess I'll preserve this batch with ACV so they can have some.

Thanks.

Better safe than sorry i ' ll say, as for Dr Schulze i like him but i wont go for the 30 years because every thing has its use by day LOL LOL . anti everything in the soup won't make me use it without preservitive though, and dont forget dogs like vinegar in their water, so go for it.

Hi Renee,

Sorry this question has gone unanswered. Unfortunately, I am not the

one with the answer. I will leave a message for Tony. However, I would

prefer to be safe than sorry and use the required preservatives. It

does extend the shelf life for six months.
