Guest guest
One thing you left out is that after you end up with about 30-33% of the volume of liquid (after two boilings and strainings per the instructions), you then mix 50/50 with vodka or apple cider vinegar - which gives you 60-66% of the original volume, and it is THAT amount that you take a maximum of 1 tablespoon three times a day (but you start much smaller 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon and work your way up). If you reduce your liquid by an additional two thirds and THEN mix 50/50 with the preservative of choice, you would take a maximum of 1/3 of a tablespoon, which of course is 1 teaspoon (and again you begin at a much smaller amount 1/12 to 1/6 of a teaspoon). You said your arms are itching. Before you take anything rub a bit of the finished extract on the inside of your arm and see if there is any itching or rash or redness. Whether there is or not, touch it to your lips to see if there is a tingle or numbness. If there is a reaction on your arm and tingling or numbness on your lips, there is likely contamination and you MIGHT be allergic to oleander too. Likewise, if there is no reaction on your arm, but there is tingling or numbness on your lips, there is likely contamination. If there is a reaction on your arm but no tingling then you may be allergic to the Dogbane family (Apocynoideae) of plants that includes oleander, winca and others. (For a list, see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apocynaceae). If you are allergic you should NOT take oleander extract. Only if there is no reaction on your arm and no tingling or numbness should you continue. And you should start out with a small amount as mentioned above. 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon at the normal condensed amount. One third of that if you further reduce it by another 2/3 to the 1/12th to 1/6th teaspoon amount. Sitting in the hospital parking lot with charcoal? Now THAT is being careful!! LOL. If you are that worried it may take a week for your pulse rate to come down, even if you don't take it! oleander soup , " Rhoda Mead " <firefly541 wrote: > > *Yesterday, someone on this list kindly helped me make organic oleander > cuttings.
