Guest guest
Tammatha, you wrote that you read that gold crowns won't release mercury. Mine are gold. Does anyone know more about this? How can I have my crowns tested? The first biological dentist I went to said that all my teeth with metal are releasing electrical energy and I definitely needed my crowns replaced. I've learned the hard way that biological dentists who are both knowledgeable and honest are hard to come by. That one refused to extract my teeth with root canals until after I had all my amalgams replaced even after I explained that my tumor grew instantly after I had a new root canal. The next one did the extractions, but released large amounts of mercury into my body. My current dentist uses all kinds of precautions, but doesn't claim to be a 'biological' dentist and can't test for mercury leaching from crowns. Sigh. Guest guest
When I had my gold crowns removed I saw that under the gold, probably because the gold is expensive, there was a lot of silver metal in the entire underside of the crown. Not sure if it was mercury, nickel and there is another one they use under crowns which I believe is palladium. These are also found under the procelin crowns. You feel good thinking you have only one material in them and find out that is not so. Marva Vote for your city's best dining and nightlife. City's Best 2008. Guest guest
Rhoda, There is no mercury in gold crowns. Mercury is contained in silver amalgam fillings... it isn't used for crowns. Hope this helps. Bob - Rhoda Mead oleander soup Tuesday, June 10, 2008 9:14 AM Crowns - dental query? Tammatha, you wrote that you read that gold crowns won't release mercury. Mine are gold. Guest guest
Hi Rhoda, Yes, I was told by my dentist, who was refered to me in my area as the best dentist for amalgam removal that I need not remove my gold crown, that it is not mercury laden. What a relief I was so glad to hear it, as we know it is no fun having crowns done. Like I said I've had 3 of the 5 amalgams removed so far. Looking forward to ditching the rest. Guest guest
Marva, There is no mercury in the linings of crowns be they gold or porcelin. There are other metals but no mercury. I'm surprised that your gold crowns have a metal liner... my gold crowns are just that, 18 carat gold and nothing else. There are other metals in the gold to make it harder, but they are supposedly bound to the gold so as not to leach out. There is no mercury however.
