Greetings,

Be sure that you are drinking alot of pure water and eliminating from

the bowels at least 2-3 times a day. When I cleanse, I will also take

alot of prune juice (must stay home for this) in the morning and get

all of that junk out.

The tree day juice cleanse is great for the liver!! When I did it, I also put castor oil packs over my liver. I also take a tincture three times a day. Here's what's in mine:

burdock root;

dandelion root;

oregon grape seed;

licorice;

ginger;

orange peel;

gentian

It tastes pretty hideous, but has worked wonders for me and my liver.

Hi Jamie!

I'll "pass the baton" to you on Monday then! That's my last day of week #4. You both are going to love it! :)

Things are going well for me. Weeks #1 and #2 were very good. No problems. Made the potassium broth Friday night and started week #3 on Saturday. The blood detox tea/tincture is really kicking things up for me. It's very hard for me to take (taste) but I really think it's making things happen that maybe wouldn't have (or not as much) on the regular program. Plus I'm up to 2 droppers of DMSO per day, which is another addition to the program.

No bad healing crises at all. I have had some sinus stuff going on, but I'm not surprised by that. That's where all my illnesses have always been - head colds, sinus infections, etc. This started healing in a major way on my cleanse this past Aug, but I think I'm finshing/completing that process this time.

Another thing that's interesting, though, is that I'm having some lung/breathing issues. Since I started running when I did the first cleanse, it's been frustrating to me that I can't run for very long before I have to stop and walk, then run, then walk, etc. I am physically very strong. It's just a breathing thing. (Airways/chest feel tight, can't get a deep breath.) It's been improving over the months, but I find slow improvement very frustrating! LOL! When I spoke with Doc about this round of the cleanse for me (which is how the blood detox tea got added) he specifically asked me if I live in an area where it's very smoggy. Interesting, but it didn't trigger anything for me at the time. Now, on week #3 of the cleanse, I'm getting stuff coming up out of my lungs! It finally dawned on me yesterday that I'm probably running out my childhood - I grew up in LA during the 70s!! I'm going to give Doc another call today to see if there's something I should add in addition to see if I can get as much of this out as I can. I've already added lobelia. I have HIGH HOPES that my running (ie breathing) will improve after this cleanse!

Kelli how are things going for you? Any bad healing crisis? I expect not with you since you did a cleanse not that long ago.

Hi Sylvia,

Thanks on the congrats and cheering! :)

You know, it's funny that I never really minded the air when I was living in LA. Guess it's 'cuz I was just a kid. On days when they had smog alerts (at least 3 or so during the school year) we didn't have to go out for PE. I loved that! LOL!

I never really considered that I had an "illness" from this. I've never had problems breathing before - always played on the sports teams when I was growing up. I'm a great swimmer too and can hold my breath like anything. My husband thought it was ironic that I seem to be suffering from "breathing problems" when I can swim two laps in the huge community pool with only one breath of air! I've never had asthma or bronchitis. Lungs have never seemd to be a problem at all in past illnesses. I really think the cleanses are just bringing out the "LA in me"!

Just got off the phone with Doc. I'm upping the lobelia today! :)

I'll keep you posted!

Kelli

Since I understand that it takes several liver cleanse to really clean the liver, do you continue taking the supplements and just skip the couple of days when you are doing the liver cleanse? Just thinking. Janna

An elevated white blood cell count indicates that the body is fighting

I would skip supplements only on the day(s) where it specifies to

consume only what the cleanse calls for.

The capsules are for a more gentle and slower cleanse. You will not

get the " stones " like you do with an olive oil type cleanse. However,

if someone just cannot do the olive oil cleanse, periodic gentle liver

cleanses are much better than no cleanses.

Thanks Tony, I don't think there is any thing wrong with my liver,

just thought I should do a cleanse, so I guess the slower and more

gentle cleanse would be fine for me. Perhaps every couple of months

so so?

I doubt if those really are stones as it's basic chemistry that olive

oil and lemon or grapefriut will react and form these stones, I m doing

coffee enemas daily isn't that like mini liver cleanses? I'd like to do

one after I do the Hulda Clark parasite cleanse but I felt sick when I

did it once.

It is not possible for olive oil to congeal and form "stones" at the temperature of the body. Olive oil congeals at around 55 degrees. The olive oil does not go into the liver, it passes through the stomach in two to four hours. What it does do it force the liver to contract and respond to the fat in the body, thereby expelling stuff in the liver. The nausea, if you get it, is from the amount of oil in the body and the action of the liver expelling stuff. The liver was not designed to process solids and stones or anything else in the liver is "solid" relative to the normal tissue of the liver. Janna

Glad to Rhoda:  It was very simple.  The ingredients are Walnut Oil 16 ozs. Organic Apple Juice as much as you would like to drink with your oil and lemon juice. 16 ozs of fresh squeezed organic lemon juice. Some stores sell lemons that have been sprayed with a coloring agent avoid them.

I started at 4 pm with 4 ozs of warmed Walnut Oil (I held the bottle of oil under hot water until the oil was warmer than room temp) and 4 ozs of apple juice at room temp. When the ingredients are warm they go down easier and mix easier, and the Walnut Oil has, as you would expect, a nutty flavor that isn't unpleasant. Try to keep the amounts to a minimum for each serving, because 16 ozs of oil, 16 ozs of apple juice, and 16 ozs of lemon juice in about an hour to an hour and a half makes for a very full belly and that can be uncomfortable. 16 ozs of fresh squeezed lemon juice followed about 10 minutes later.

Second dose about 20 miniutes later, remember you have to get all of this down in less then two hours so that the oil doesn't start to affect the liver enough to start dumping toxins into the stomach, this is where you get the erps. Hint, I like and took the lemon juice straite because if you add apple juice to it it might taste better but you are adding more volume to what you need to drink.

Third dose about 4:40. Your belly gets full and there doesn't seem to be enough room but otherwise still not unpleasant. This time I heated the apple juice a little to make sure that it mixes with the oil as well as it can. Lemon juice is really tart going down the third time and there seems to be a lot of acid belching. A little stomach massage while sitting up seems to help the gas come up better. DO NOT LIE DOWN, VERY BAD!

Fourth one down at about 5:10. It took me a little longer to take the last 4 ozs of lemon juice because there just wasn't room. Walking around helped bring up gas, urinated that really helped make room. It took until 5:45 before I felt that there was enough room for the lemon juice.

9:30 my stomach has been a little delicate since the last of the lemon juice. Some heartburn from the lemon juice and belching gas, tastes like walnuts.

10:00 to 10:44 took some baking soda for heartburn it was uncomfortable.  The heartburn continued to bother me throughout the night, and a feeling of bloating and fullness that was uncomfortable but I did manage to sleep for several hours.

4:48 to 5:35  I had three very small, very loose BM's about 2 or 3 tablespoons, but no green floaties and no bowel upset.

7 am Still very very bloated and full. It could be toxins being dumped by my liver, if so hooray, if not maybe the apple juice and lemon juice ran right through and left the oil undigested in my stomach, in which case I will be very disappointed. It has been 15 hours since I started the cleanse and the results have not been steller so far.

7:50 Finally some movement.  Seems the whole system was backed up. BM was runny brown and a little crampy but not bad. Goodly amount and lots and lots and lots of green floaties from liver. Hooray!. Stomach feels 100% better. Still a little bloat but that should continue to lessen with each BM.

12:30 BM still lots of green floaties and more relief. This was the biggest BM.

1:15 another BM still lots of floaties

2:30 Still some green floaties but all other symptoms gone.

I was surprised that the process took so long. I will do this one again next week.

Rhoda: as you can see I took notes all through the process.  My two daughters tried the epsom salt cleanse with grapefruit when their gallbladders acted up and I knew that I would never be able to keep it down so looked for an alternative and this one seemed so much gentler on the whole system. Hope it helps.

Herbs and Your Liver

Herbal therapy has been an important part of health and wellness for hundreds of

years. Herbs contain many substances that are good for the body and are

therefore used in the treatment of various illnesses. Along with traditional

medicine, herbs can be used to help the treatment of a disorder as minimal as

sunburn or as dramatic as liver disease.

Herbs come in many different forms. The most popular forms are fresh herbs,

dried herbs, tinctures, extracts, capsules or tablets, teas and lozenges. Fresh

and dried herbs can be used both as a food and as a medicinal herb. Adding these

herbs to salads, soups, stews, casseroles, etc. can help you to maintain your

health while also adding flavor and nutrients to your cooking.

Although herbs can be very helpful, as with medicine, herbs can also have side

effects. And, some herbs may be toxic when used the wrong way. It is important

to see an herbal specialist before taking any herb, and to stop taking herbs if

you have any unexpected symptoms.

Some herbs can make your HIV and other meds work less well. It is important to

first tell your doctor about any herbs that you are taking or want to take. When

taking herbal formulas, take them 2 to 3 hours before or after medications. In

general, children and pregnant women should not use herbals unless they are

under the supervision of their health care provider.

The following section lists the herbs that may help to protect, heal, detoxify

and support the liver:

Certain herbs are used as flavorings for foods or as medicinal plants. You can

either add them to your cooking or take them as an herbal remedy. Below is a

list of these herbs:

Turmeric (Curcuma longa) falls into both the food and medicinal plant category.

As a seasoning, turmeric is used a lot in Indian food. This substance helps to

protect the liver against damage, fights inflammation and oxidation, aids in

digestion by stimulating bile flow and supports liver detoxification. Try adding

it to your favorite chicken and rice dishes.

Caution: Long-term use may cause gastrointestinal disturbances.

Typical dose: As a tea, use 1 teaspoon of dried root to 1 cup water, simmer and

take 3 cups/day. Incorporate into diet as a seasoning.

Ginger (Zingiber officinale) is used in cooking and as a medicinal herb. It

contains 8 liver-protecting compounds. It aids digestion by stimulating bile

flow and contains more than 12 antioxidant compounds.

Caution: Ginger is not recommended for people taking anticoagulants, avoid

taking if stomach is overstimulated and take in moderation during early

pregnancy.

Typical dose: Use in cooking. To prepare a tea, add 1–2 slices of fresh ginger

to 1 cup of water and simmer.

Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) is considered both a food and a medicinal herb.

As a food, dandelion leaves are eaten as a vegetable and are usually added to

salads or cooked like spinach. Dandelion root is used as an herb to help

stimulate bile flow and help improve the symptoms of various liver diseases,

including hepatitis.

Caution: Avoid if you suffer from biliary ailments or are low in pota-ssium.

This herb may lower blood sugar levels.

Typical dose: 3 cups of tea per day. To prepare tea, add 1 teaspoon of dried

dandelion root to 1 cup of water and simmer. Dandelion leaves are delicious as a

vegetable.

Burdock (Arctium lappa) root can be added to soups and stews. Burdock acts as a

powerful antioxidant and as a blood purifier. It is also good for

gastrointestinal problems and can help to restore liver and gallbladder

function.

Caution: Avoid using if allergic to ragweed, chrysanthemums, marigolds and

daisies. Large amounts may cause hypoglycemia. If taking insulin, consult your

doctor before using because your insulin dosage may require adjustment. Do not

use if pregnant or breastfeeding.

Typical dose: 3 cups of tea per day. Add 1 teaspoon of dried root to 1 cup of

water and simmer. Use in cooking.

The following is a list of herbs that are used as medicinal plants only:

Licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra) root is an herb that can help to reduce injury to

the liver cells. It has been used in the treatment of cirrhosis and chronic

hepatitis. Studies have shown that it can reduce liver enzymes and improve the

symptoms of chronic hepatitis.

Caution: Licorice root can increase blood pressure if taken in large doses. If

you have high blood pressure, do not take more than 3 cups of licorice tea per

day and avoid taking licorice extracts in liquid, capsule or pill forms. Also,

avoid licorice if you are pregnant, have heart disease or take medications for

heart disease.

Typical dose: 3 cups of tea per day. To prepare tea add 1 teaspoon of dried

licorice root to 1 cup of water and simmer.

Milk Thistle (Silybum marianum) seeds are used as a medicinal herb only. They

help to stabilize cell membranes and limit the number of poisons that enter the

cell. Milk thistle also acts as an antioxidant, helps to repair liver cells and

helps the liver to make new cells. It can be used in either tea or capsule form.

When purchasing capsules, make sure they are standardized to 80% silymarin.

Caution: Avoid using if suffering from breast, uterine or ovarian cancer;

endometriosis or uterine fibroids. Avoid using when pregnant and/or lactating.

Milk thistle may cause an allergic reaction in people sensitive to ragweed,

chrysanthemums, marigolds and daisies.

Typical dose: If taking capsules, 400–800mg/day. If taking as a tea, drink 1 cup

per day or as directed by your healthcare provider. To make tea, use 1 teaspoon

of crushed seeds to 1 cup of water and simmer.

Schisandra (Schisandra chinensis) has been used for liver protection. It may

help to lower liver enzyme levels and improve the symptoms of chronic viral

hepatitis.

Caution: Schisandra may make symptoms of peptic ulcer disease or reflux disease

worse.

Typical dose: 3 cups of schisandra tea per day. To prepare tea, add 1 teaspoon

of dried berries to 1 cup of water and simmer. Herbal extracts should be

standardized to 20mg lignan content.

Teas and Juice

Teas are a calming and soothing way to get the supportive and protective

benefits of herbs. The following liver flushes are helpful in cleansing the

liver:

A Tea for Your Liver Recipe #1

& #65532;

• Mix to taste: licorice, dandelion, chicory, turmeric, and ginger.

• If you would like, add: anise, caraway, celery seed, dill, clove, fennel,

peppermint, rosemary, and vanilla bean.

A Tea for Your Liver Recipe #2

• Use black currant leaves to make a tea that has been used as a remedy for

hepatitis, liver ailments, and many other illnesses

.. • Drink 3 to 4 cups a day.

A Tea for Your Liver Recipe #3

• Use green tea to stabilize liver cell membranes, making them less vulnerable

to toxin damage, and to provide the body with a source of antioxidants.

Moreover, green tea has been shown to improve symptoms of chronic hepatitis and

to improve liver function tests.

• Add 1 teaspoon of dried herb to 1 cup water, steep for 10 minutes, and drink 3

cups a day.

• Avoid if intolerant to small amounts of caffeine.

A Juice for Your Liver Recipe #4

• Blend a whole lemon (which is washed well), 1 tablespoon of olive oil, and 1

cup of fruit juice or water.

• Strain and drink.

• If desired, add garlic or ginger.

• If having problems taking acidic foods/drinks, add a teaspoon of slippery elm

powder to the strained juice and mix well. Drink immediately as it will start to

thicken.

Another excellent "cleanse" for liver/gallbladder issues is fresh lemon juice. I squeeze a half lemon into water & drink it throughout the day. I don't add any sweetener, but you may try honey. I drink organic apple cider vinegar everyday,as well. Between the 2,you should notice improvement with issues. Besides the herbs listed, get some alpha lipoic acid supplements. It is reasonably cheap, and known in Europe as a premier liver aid. It's given to people who have eaten toxic mushrooms; the leading cause of death by them is liver damage.Hope this helps!

I don't have any liver issues. I have alot of kidney pain since I had my baby and they can't find anything wrong. They did an ultrasound and saw I had 2 cysts on my liver but that it was nothing.... I just thought I should do a liver then kidney cleanse.

I do drink lots of water, and always forget to add lemon! I do drink ACV daily also, but just started.--- On Wed, 4/8/09, earthcraftyr <earthcraftyr wrote:

Jenn, Hi!

I've looked at a lot of liver cleanse stuff on the web. There is one that is fairly simple and inexpensive. It's the liver cleanse put together by Hulda Clark. I have liver problems and on top of taking herbs to strengthen my liver I'm planning to do this cleanse sometime this spring. All you need to do is google liver cleanse and then search for Hulda Clark and you'll find all the info on the proceedure. Good luck in your efforts to detoxify and get your liver back to better health.

Blessed Be!!!
