Okay I know this is going to sound odd but what is vegan soap? Does it

just mean no animal products or is it more than that? I have had a ton

of requests for it but have no idea what to use or not use.

Thanks,

Charla

A truly Vegan soap is completely vegetarian in source. That means no ingredients of animal origin including beeswax.

I am a soap maker as well. I have found that those interested in a Vegan soap are also more concerned about integrity of the ingredients, so the more Natural the soap the better. If I want to make a "milk" soap I use a certified organic Coconut Milk, it makes a bar with a nice creamy lather.

Hope that helps.

I second this.

A truly vegan soap doesn't have any animal byproducts...no beeswax, no

honey, no silk fiber. Even some colorants aren't certified vegan. Beer

(I like this in shampoo bars) is not vegan.

I to have found that this particular customer base likes as many

organic, unrefined or low refined, " whole " ingredients as possible in

their soaps and other preps. Let the natural ingredients of your soaps

shine through and be glad all those golden, orange-y, greenish colors

are in vogue right now.

Good luck with your sales!

Hi Charla,

I substitute Soy Wax and Candelilla Wax for the Beeswax in my Vegan Lip

Balms and I use Candelilla Wax and Castor oil in my Vegan Lip Glosses.

I've also found that it's very important to assure no cross-

contamination of animal products with Vegan formulas. I keep a whole

separate set of everything - pots, molds, utensils, etc - for my Vegan

products.

debating over whether or not glycerine was included in vegan. I would

have NEVER thought of bees wax. I saw a request for vegan lip gloss the

other day. I wonder what hey made that out of. Thanks again! =c)
