In another group I'm in someone is looking for information on how to use a Stevia plant she purchased. Here is what she asked: "My son and I are trying to plant herbs this year. We came across a plant in Walmart called "Stevia". It's supposed to be a natural sweetner. Supposedly there are no calories and even diabetics can use it Since we are new to this, can anyone else tell me about this herb? Any suggestions on how to use it? Do we dry it out first? We chewed on a little piece of leaf and it was very sweet." Does anyone have any information? Thanks! Blessings, Starr

You can dry it and add a very small amount to herb tea blends. Another way

to use the plant is to make a concentrated " tea " with the leaves and use the

liquid to sweeten things. I've read differing numbers - some say it is 50X

sweeter than sugar, and some 300X. It's a LOT sweeter, anyway.

Powdered extracts of the herb are sold in health food stores. I'm not sure

how those are made, as they are a white powder.
