AKA: Monkshood, Wolfsbane, Cuckoo's Cap, Blue Rocket, Friar's Cap, Jacot's Chariot BOTANICAL: Aconitum Napellus EFFECTS & REPORTED USES: Made from the dried tuberous root of this herb, the effect is that of a sedative or depressant. It has been used successfully to reduce pain and fever and consequiently has been widely used in combating scarlet fever, inflammation of hte stomach (gastritis), nerve pains of the face (facial neuralgia), inflammation of hte mucus membrane (catarrah), ulcerated tonsils, croup and heart palpitation and spasm. Only a small amount is required for effect, such as one or two drops of a fluid extract of the root in a cup of warm water. SPEICAL WARNING: There are a few hebes which, when taken in excess, can be very dangerous and even fatal. Aconite is one of these herbs.
