When you talk about rheumatoid arthritis, many people think that it

is a sickness for old people. To tell the truth, rheumatoid arthritis

symptoms appear at the age of about 30 to 40 years. However, most

aggressive aged people ignore and abandon the treatments. Or if pain

is relieved with a simple medication, unnoticed rheumatoid arthritis

might be creating serious damages in the bones.

DEFORMITIES

Let's take the case of a patient whose fingers were deformed in

advanced stage. At his middle age, he had a healthy and well-built

body as a construction worker. In the beginning, he just thought that

pains around his fingers were something like jammed finger. Thus, he

just left it as is, thinking that the pains will disappear sometime.

Yes, it is true that the pains disappeared in a week's time. However,

he noticed that he could no longer bend the fingers on his hand, so

he went to the hospital for medical checkup.

X-ray showed that the disease developed into a form called

progressive rheumatoid arthritis. Bone cartilages at joints worn out

and adhesion of bones were formed. There was no more cartilage in

joints. It means that two different bones formed to one solid bone.

Rheumatoid arthritis is dangerous and can happen not just to old

people but also to young healthy workers. If you feel something like

this experience, you should rush for medical checkup for immediate

remedy.

It does not mean that all symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis go the

same way as above. There are various symptoms that may puzzle your

thoughts.

DEVELOPMENT OF RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS

In rheumatoid arthritis, the joint that hurts is caused by heat and

inflammation. If you observe the joints of a healthy person with the

use of endoscope in the hospital, the joints or cartilage are covered

with clear fluid called synovial fluid while the rheumatic patients'

cartilage show darkened clear bones only. It means that there is

nothing to protect the bone joints from friction.

The process that leads to rheumatoid arthritis begins in

the " synovium " , the membrane that creates a protective sac

surrounding the joint. This sac is filled with a clear viscous fluid

called " synovial fluid " that lubricates the linings of joints and the

sheaths. This fluid also supplies nutrients and oxygen to the

cartilage (a lubricious tissue that coats the ends of bones). The

cartilage is composed of connective protein called " collagen " , which

gives support and flexibility to the joints. Since rheumatoid

arthritis is an autoimmune disease in which the body's immune system

attacks itself, an abnormal immune system produces destructive

molecules that cause continuous inflammation of the synovium. As a

result, the cartilage and the bone are destroyed.

CAUSES OF RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS

The reason why the body's immune system attacks itself remains

unknown by modern science. It is suspected that female hormonal

changes during pregnancy, giving birth, and hereditary factors could

be related, but still none is made decisive.

Since the cause of rheumatoid arthritis is unknown, preventive method

is also unknown. The medical science think that stress, improper

diet, and physical and emotional effects, could be involved. There

are others who think that being a victim of rheumatoid arthritis is

by misfortune.

TREATMENT AND PREVENTION OF RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS

Rheumatoid arthritis can emerge for all ages from a child to elders.

Medically, there are no preventive methods at all. Rheumatoid

arthritis is considered one of the most mysterious diseases.

To prevent the worsening of rheumatoid arthritis, we advise you to

checkup if you feel any pain at the joints or if you see any

swelling, especially in the morning when you wake up. Also, if you

feel some differences in more than 2 or 3 parts of your joints, we

advise you to consult your doctor for possible symptoms of rheumatoid

arthritis.

NATURAL REMEDIES FOR RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS

Here are some effective commonly known remedies in China, Japan and

Korea.

1. Mash steamed squash, paste it to a cloth or thick paper. While it

is still hot, place it to the affected painful areas.

Taro plant and ginger with equal amount. Grind and paste them to a

3. Job's Tears, a.k.a Chinese pearl barley, just looks like rice when
