Guest guest
More On Yams And Sweet Potatoes What Americans call " yams " are really sweet potatoes. Yams are apparently an entirely different tuber, coming from West Africa and grown in the Carribean. They are not related. When you buy a " yam " from Safeway - it is a sweet potato. If you go to an ethnic grocery store, you might be able to buy a real yam. Here is a website that describes the difference: http://www.ces.ncsu.edu/depts/hort/hil/hil-23-a.html Real yams are the source for natural progesterone. Thanks to Mary R. for this information.
