Guest guest
We can't even go in our backyard anymore. I put the brakes on it after weeks of mosquitos, tonight I brought my dog in and he had at least 10 on his face with 4 around one of his eyes on his eyelids. Not to mention the fact that every time we open that patio door about 10 of them fly in and have been biting all of us (including our 6 month old baby). And no wonder why my dog has been sick and lethargic. We don't have any standing water, but we do have a lot of bushes and trees and therefore a lot of shade. As far as I can tell none of my neighbors has standing water either. So until we can resolve it, I'm going to have to take the dog out for walks. Anyways, I'm wondering what natural methods we can use to repel the mosquitos. I know they make insecticide sprays, but I don't want my dog or baby exposed. Any ideas you have would be most appreciated. Thank you! Paula
Guest guest
Try looking into Mountain Mint and Pennyroyal. Both are good for keeping pesky things away and all you have to do is boil water add the herbs and put in a spray bottle. With an infestation that large though it might only be advisable on your bodies. I know that pregnant women shouldn't use it so we might need to check into the baby to make sure it doesn't bring harm. This summer I went camping and we were getting stung and bit by all kinds of critters from mosquitoes to ticks. Everyone came to my camp to use the bottle of spray I made. It helped with the bites to keep the itching away and kept the other critters away. It was working better than OFF. So...I know it works. I mixed Penny-royal, eucalyptus and lavender in a pot of boiling water. I did a second batch using the same leaf products but added Chamomile oil, peppermint oil and citronella. I didn't like the oily feel even though it wasn't that bad...everyone else loved it.Good luck.
