Guest guest
Name: Paul Q (PQ) Favorite flower: No way I could pick one. I used to be a professional grower and my favorite thing to do was to arrive at the greenhouses before anyone else got there and walk thru them and in the light of dawn and see what new flowers had bloomed. One time it was flowers on sensitive plants, one time the Lemon Drop marigolds had bloomed (in January), another, blooms on cacti and living rocks (Lithops). In the woods there's Mayflowers, and Dog Tooth violets, Jack in the Pulpits, and drifts of Trillium like snow in the spring. In the shade in the mountains Indian Pipes. In the fields Johnny Jump Ups (violets) and Mustard. The scent of Wild Grape blossoms at night. Birdsfoot trefoil (in our yard). Lavender!, Snow Drops, Lily of the Valley, and Crocus. Spring Daffodils! Tulips! Lilies! (my youngest Daughter's name is Lily) Perennial Phlox, Alyssum, Elderblossoms, Pussy Willows. Blood Root, May Apples, Lady Slippers. Tea Chrysanthemums......I could go on this way a long time :-) But... if I had to pick just one it would have to be the most lowly, the most hated and reviled, the one that has created a multi million dollar industry for the ridding of it. The reason *_ALL_* my neighbors spend many hours eliminating by digging up each one by hand, spend thousands of dollars a year spraying the most horrible chemicals around (one neighbor even killed their dog with chemicals). Ridicule, and literally curse us and seek legal recourse against us. (and we live in the country, zoned agricultural) That flower that shows it's bright shiny face when no others will, late in the fall or early in the spring when when the sun makes the smallest opening in the snow to warm the earth. The flower that brings a tiny bit of hope when all else is cold, wet, and dark. THE MIGHTY DANDELION!!! Any Hobbies: I collect hobbies :-) Amateur astronomy, rockets, computer, baseball fan, Play Hammered Dulcimer, Whistles, and Theremin. Herbs, Teas (both tea and herbs). Not really a hobby, but active in Church, and Bible study. Haiku and other poetry. Birding. etc. etc. Favorite thing to shop for:Books and teas (and herbs) Where do you live?
