4 Elements Flat Bread

Here is a very simple and surprisingly delicious recipe for a flat bread

that incorporates all four elements. It is very much like Indian chapatis.

You will need:

2 cups regular flour

1/2 c. warm water + a tablespoon or more as needed

1 teaspoon salt

a small amount of olive or vegetable oil

griddle or fry pan

In a large bowl or on your counter top, dump your flour (the flour is

Earth) Make a well in the center of it. Dissolve the salt in the water (

the water, of course is Water), and pour the water in the well. Mix

together with your hands until it begins to form a dough. If it is dry,

add more water, a tablespoon at a time. Knead the dough for about 10-15

minutes or until it is very supple and smooth. Set the dough aside to

rest in a clean covered bowl for 20-30 minutes.

Form the dough into a ball and cut into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece

into a ball, then flatten each ball and roll out as thinly as possible

form a very, very thin pancake. Heat your pan or griddle to medium high

heat. (This is Fire, of course) Cook each thin pancake on the hot

griddle. You will know when to turn it over because it will puff up in

small or sometimes large bubble pockets. (This is Air) This means about

1 or 2 minutes per side.

These are very good with just about anything. Sometimes we like to make

sandwich roll-ups out of them.
