Guest guest
hi everone, this just came from one of my orther groups...just wondering if any of you have any ideas. She is chemical intolerant (food & environmental) hence the bit about "failsafer", so medications are really a last resort sort of thing vick Ash is 13 and on New Years Day she got her first period. It has stopped for the odd day but other than that she has had it for over 3 weeks. I have been advised by our GP to put her on a course of hormone tablets to help the lining of her uterus. But I don’t know what effect this will have on my failsafer!!! She starts highschool next week and I don’t want her to be exhausted but am worried about the possible effects on this on Ash. Guest guest
I would say to be very careful about what kinds of hormone pills they put her on. There's either the PILL, which is a combination of estrogen and progesterone. Or there's estrogen, or there's progesterone. I'm no OB/GYN, and don't really want to dispense medical advice, but I had some extremely painful periods after my c-section 2 years ago. I didn't want the pill, for religious reasons, and so was put on progesterone, aka prometrium, aka norethindrone, and they caused my periods to be longer than ever, from about 5 days to over three weeks. When I was 11 and started my period, my first was about three weeks long, and then they leveled them selves off. I'd say to try something herbal, anywhere from raspberry, to what ever else you can find. I have a couple websites that may be very helpful, and would be willing to share them if wanted Lorene In a message dated 1/23/2007 9:16:00 P.M. Guest guest
If you can find a helath food store, there is a tea you can buy or online for that matter, that may be helpful for your daughter. She is way to young in my opinion to be on hormones right now! these docs always seem to like these bc pills, but a 13 year old really has no business being on them unless soemthing is really wrong. Also, an actual Gyno would be a good idea at this point in time too. Is she spotting or is it heavy for her? Is your daughter anemic at all? Guest guest
If she's only just started her periods, they could be odd and irregular for a few months. I wouldn't put her on any hormones - especially at her age! If her period is light, then the length is inconvenient for the time being. I would be more concerned if it were heavy.
