Guest guest
Hi all, Hoping someone call help me quickly. I just made a batch of lotion and the recipe was as follows: 1oz Emulsifying Wax 6oz Oil (I used 3oz coconut and 3oz Olive oil) 2oz Glycerin 12oz distilled water 0.2-0.4oz of FO or EO (I used 0.3oz of FO) Heat the EW, oil and glycerin until wax is barely melted and cool to 110-120 degrees. Add distilled water and FO or EO. Blend with stick blender or mixer on low until texture is lotion-like, pour into bottles. I weighed all ingredients (including water) and have been stick blending for at least 10 minutes and it's still very watery like. Can I add something else to it to thicken it up or do I just need to give it more time with the stick blender? Thanks for your help!Carla in SD
Guest guest
It is very likely to thicken up as it sits, completely cools. I like to pour mine a little thin, myself. Try placing a small amount in the fridge and see if it does indeed thicken up. if not, I see there is no stearic acid in this batch - do you have any on hand? Add maybe 1/4 -1/2 oz? Guest guest
Hi Bobbie, I don't have any stearic acid (on my list of things to get) and the lotion did finally set up quite nicely. I've never made lotion before, so I was getting a little worried :-) Do you have a good source for the stearic acid? Thanks, Carla - Bobbie Eastman It is very likely to thicken up as it sits, completely cools. Guest guest
Wow - there are many good suppliers out there - it would depend on where you live and what amount you wanted to buy. Let me know where you are, and I can probably recommend someone in your region ( USA). You can write off list if you like.
