Guest guest Posted December 16, 2006 Report Share Posted December 16, 2006 We have two 4 month old puppies that we are still trying to get housebroken and wondered if there were any EO's I could put in a spray bottle with water to spray around the areas they like to go (or have been) to help eliminate the odor and deter them from going there again. Sounds like it would be worth a try. I would try it on a section of the surface it was being used to make sure it won't harm anything, fabrics and such. Good Luck. Take two cupsof rubbing alcohol and add four drops of lemon grass oil,place in a spray bottle (plastic is fine) and voila. It's thebest solution I have ever used and it's so cheap to make. Guest guest Posted December 17, 2006 Report Share Posted December 17, 2006 I do not know about deterring them, but I know that warm water with baking soda helps eliminate the doggy smell in my furniture, rugs and house in general. Perhaps, adding the black pepper eo as suggested to this mix would take care of both of the problems. I would test inconspicuous areas of fabrics and rugs first. I'm afraid to gt the carpet professionally cleaned because I've heard the smell can get worse after. I found out that lemon juice and white vinegar with a touch of baking soda tossed in works well. Cates HATE citrus esp. lemons. I am dealing with chronic staph infections so I use both natural and chemical products but the lemon juice always works. I sometime do mix it with a very diluted bleach because of all the infections I am exposed to while working in healthcare. I hope this helps. Many purebred cats used in breeding are neutered when they are two years or older to make them better pets. Check with your local SPCA/Shelters or any animal rescue place they usually have vets that will offer you a discounted, sometimes free spade or neuter since it is the only way to keep the animal population down there for the large amount of homeless pets down too. Guest guest Posted December 21, 2006 Report Share Posted December 21, 2006 Can't offer any EO suggestions, but an odour eliminator is malt vinegar mixed with warm water (approx 1 part vinegar to every 4 parts water) I've shared my life with many many dogs and cats that have on occasion left me messages of some kind or another (be this during their formative years, or their twilight years) and this works a treat Hope it helps? Guest guest Posted January 3, 2007 Report Share Posted January 3, 2007 She mostly has the wet doggy smell when unfortunately, she must go potty just after the rain, and as ½ black lab and ½ border collie, yep, she must dash right through every puddle out there. Then come running back inside and jump on the couch. Amazingly though, when you spell out b a t h, she runs, lol. The spray I mix up and use seems to make my whole house smell fresher.
