First I'd like to say hello. My name is Christopher and I found this

group while looking for information on herbal medicine. I have a

question for those with a great deal of knowledge about herbs and

remedies.

I have chronic bronchitis and my doctor's solution for this is

antibiotics which are not helping. I told him that they werent helping

and he suggested that I look into some vaporizers and herbal remedies

to see if that might be the way to go.

Can anyone recommend anything? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I raise exotic plants, and if it is ok in the near future I will

post a list of seeds that I have available for trading. (I dont sell

seeds and never accept money for them, just trade and share with

likeminded folks.)

Many thanks to everyone.

Welcome Christopher

you'll find lots of great information here. While I am not an expert in herbal medicine, I do use several home remedies - the kind that are passed down - with a lot of success. One thing I found works well for congestion of the lungs is fennel tea. It really helps to loosen things up and makes for a more productive cough. If you add some honey to the tea it will taste a lot like black licorice. I've even used it on babies as young as 6 months (obviously without the honey and in a very weak solution).

I have asthma and one I found that works really well for me is a steam "tent" with a few drops of tea tree oil in it. I do this whenever I feel my chest start to tighten up and it's kept me off of inhalers for several years. Even my doctor approves of this method.

Of course, these home remedies are very much a "YMMV" type of thing - I know people that it doesn't seem to work for but at least it's a start.

Hello,About bronchitis, there are several aromatherapy oils that can help, for example eucalyptus oil and thyme oil, they can be used in vaporizers. Check first with your doctor what kind of vaporizer that's best for you. One simple vaporizing method is to pour boiling water in a bowl, add a few drops of aromatherapy oils and use a towel to create a steam bath for inhalation, but this is not suitable for everyone, for example if you have asthma, so ask your doctor first if you can use this method. And before deciding to use the oils do some research, on the internet or a aromatherapy book, so that you get familiar with their use./Autumndream_within_a_dream8008 <dream_within_a_dream8008 Sent: Monday, 4 December, 2006 5:23:46 PM question from a newbie
