Tucson Jojoba Oil and

Beer Conditioner

$1.19

YIELD: 1 TREATMENT

Jojoba plants grow wild in the desert near

Tucson, Ariz. Because jojoba oil is similar to

your body's natural oils, it feels light and non-greasy.

It will restore shine to your hair, and

beer will add body (any inexpensive brand

of beer will do).

1 cup warm beer

1 teaspoon jojoba oil

Mix together the warm beer and jojoba oil;

if the beer is cold, the oil will harden (chemically,

jojoba oil is similar to wax).

Shampoo and rinse as usual. Pour the

conditioner over your head and massage

into your scalp and hair. Rinse well. You may

want to lightly shampoo and rinse again if

your hair feels oily.

Jalapeno Hair Tonic

$2.14

YIELD: 5 OUNCES

Jalapeno peppers can prevent hair loss by

stimulating new hair growth, according to

tradition in Mexico. After handling peppers,

wash your hands well before touching your

face or eyes--the juice can burn.

2 small or 1 large jalapeno

pepper

1/2 cup vodka

2 tablespoons castor oil

Mince the jalapeno pepper and place in a

small ceramic bowl. Pour the vodka over

the peppers and allow mixture to sit for

three or four days.

Strain the vodka and discard the peppers.

Add the castor oil to the pepper

vodka, Store in a bottle.

Shake before using. Massage 1/2 teaspoon

to 1 teaspoon into your scalp before

going to bed (it will cause a slight tingling

sensation). Shampoo your hair as usual in

the morning.
