Guest guest
Winter Skin Recipes Super Softening- Super Easy Solution! by Trish Henkel Winter is here and so is that dry itchy skin. As soon as that furnace starts to kick in- your skin goes into turmoil. That's how it is around here. This is a lotion recipe I developed for my son who would want to dig at his legs and body. I knew he needed something that would soften and nourish the skin. A lotion that would NOT be greasy and that would lock in the moisture. A lotion that even he would use. It all started out that way, now everyone in the house is using it! I love to use it on my face as well, so it's that good! What I also like is how quick it is. No tricky measuring of those solids to get two ounces of cocoa butter.I know you'll enjoy this as much as we have.I have truly found that home made bath and body products are so much better for you skin, see for yourself. Please check out my other bath and body products I have published in my authors listing. I mix mine in a 4 ounce cup so it's always fresh- I don't refrigerate mine so I make smaller quantities. The Vitamin E oil helps to preserve as well. I would recommend using within a week or two if not refrigerated. Skin Softening Solution: 4 ounce cup or larger with a tight fitting seal 2 ounces of aloe vera 2 tablespoons Apricot kernel oil -or high quality light oil 1/2 teaspoon fragrance oil -such as Cucumber Melon, Watermelon or Citrus Splash to go with the beautiful green color 1/2 teaspoon vitamin E oil Add all the ingredients to the cup. I usually mix mine right in the container with a fork or whisk. The lotion will go through a few changes before it is completely mixed. So pay close attention. When you first mix the lotion will be thin, but keep mixing for at least 5 minutes. You can do a few minutes and come back if needed. At this point it will start to look a little more unblended but hold on..... that is the sign it's almost ready. All of the sudden the lotion will start to get a milky white appearance with it's beautiful light green hue and turn into a wonderfully well blend lotion that will rival any stores- Yes, even Bath and Body Works! Once it is blended to this point you're done! Mine has not separated or lost it's creamy texture. The great thing is it takes only minutes to put together. Your skin will beg for more! The Aloe vera is softening to the skin to give it the moisture is needs. The oil brings more nourishment soaking into the skin and giving protection. The vitamin E oil not only aides in healing the skin but also acts a a preservative. The fragrance, well let's face it- that's for you because you like things that smell good. You'll wonder if you'll ever buy those sore brands again! Why, when you can get the same fragrance oils to use yourself! Enjoy! Candy Cane Bath Salts Ingredients: 2 cups Epsom salts 1/2 c. sea salt 4-6 drops peppermint oil 2-3 drops red food coloring. Place one cup of Epsom and 1/4 cup sea salt in a bowl or resealable plastic bag. Add 2-3 drops peppermint oil. Place the remaining ingredients in a second bowl. Mix all ingredients well. Layer the red and white salts in a clear bottle or jar. Tie with a ribbon and some small candy canes. This makes a great holiday gift for friends. Peppermint Oil for Legs Ingredients 1/2 cup soy oil 4 drops peppermint essential oil Instructions Combine oils and massage into legs. Store excess in a jar. Also great on tired feet. Peppermint is an anti-inflammatory with decongesting and soothing properties. Soy oil is used because it absorbs more quickly into the skin. This recipe gives relief for tired and cramped legs. Also, try following treatment with a footbath. ..................................................... Peppermint Foot Scrub Sore, tired feet from all the shopping?
