Guest guest
Morning sickness: Ginger, either candied or tea (or whatever other form you like) helps with morning sickness. There is a ginger candy made by " Ginger People " that is wonderful, but if you aren't used to ginger, make sure to break it into pieces and nibble slowly or it can be overwhelming and quite HOT. You can get the Ginger People candy at Whole Foods Market (I think that is their name) in either the bulk foods section (cheapest) or prepackaged. Something salty, but don't overdo it, can help with morning sickness. Those are the only ones that comes to mind immediately, but then I haven't had my first cuppa yet... I know a ton of remedies, I'll send more when my brain starts working. Blessings Sarah-Ann
Guest guest
Thanks to who responded. I read that herbal teas are a no no as well as most herbs. This is a scary thought! Who knew that herbs can for once be considered dangerous as oppossed to an all natural remedy?
Guest guest
Since pregnancy weakens the qing and so does sex, TCM would discourage it. Most of my pregnant clients report not being very interested in the latter part of the pregnancy anyway. The topic of sex came up and he said the doctor said they can have sex as often as they like. I told him that is very interesting because I think TCM says otherwise. Especially for certain times during pregnancy but I don't remember so I will try and find out for him. Does anyone know what TCM has to say regarding having sex during pregnancy? Thanks, Elie http://www.tcmdirectory.com
Guest guest
I do not believe that intercourse weakens the Essence (jing) in women the way it does in men, who lose seminal fluid which is directly related to the Kidney [and] Essence. On the other hand, the Uterus is ruled by the Liver [and] Blood. So intercourse in women activates Liver Blood, rather than draining the Kidney Essence. Perhaps some yin fluids are lost through the lubrication provided by the secretions of the Bartholin's glands, but this is not Essence. As an important side note, *excess* sexual activity can damage the Kidney Essence by injuring the Ren and Chong Mai. But normal activity is not necessarily injurious. However, I do not advise my patients to engage in sexual activity during the first trimester or in the last trimester before 34 weeks, especially if there is a history of miscarriage or there are other risk factors for miscarriage, since sexual arousal does quicken the blood and stimulate the cervix to open somewhat. If a woman is robust, healthy, and of appropriate age for pregnancy (not too old or young), sexual desire indicates strong Kidney Essence, and could also indicate the need for the quickening of Liver Blood, as provided by orgasm. Unfulfilled sexual desire can lead to the stagnation of Liver Blood as well as the stirring of the Ministerial Fire, which can in turn cause a host of other problems. If there is a lack of sexual desire, it is not a good idea to push it. Also I do not advise woman to have " rough sex " during pregnancy...that just doesn't seem to be a good idea to me. On a personal note, during pregnancy I listened and responded to my body: I had some increased desire during the 2nd trimester, but little to none in the first or 3rd. Hope that helps- Fiamma Chinese Medicine , " Angela Pfaffenberger, PH.D. " <angela.pf wrote: > > Since pregnancy weakens the qing and so does sex, TCM would discourage it.
