Mermaids' Secret Skin Scrub

Inspired by Home Enlightenment, by Annie B. Bond (Rodale Press, 2005).

Simple Solution

Maybe the reason mermaids have always been depicted as having such luminous skin is that they have constant access to nature’s greatest skin-slougher: sea salt.

This simple formula calls on the magic of sea salt to gently exfoliate dead skin cells to reveal fresh, smooth skin underneath. If you can’t visit the beach to reap the benefits of sand and sea water, this formula will come in especially handy. You can read it here:

INGREDIENTS

2 cups fine sea salt

4 cups grapeseed, apricot, or almond oil

1. In a glass jar, combine the ingredients and stir to blend.

2. Standing in the bathtub or shower, wet your body and then scoop some of the mixture into your hand. Massage into your skin using a circular motion, beginning at your feet and working your way up.

3. Rinse thoroughly with warm water. An oily residue may remain on your skin so if your skin is naturally dry, allow it to stay. If your skin is naturally oily, remove the residue with a gentle soap, then pat dry.
